The first major in USE season 3 is here. We play The Masters at the legendary Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
Augusta National was designed my Bobby Jones and Alistair MacKenzie - and was open for play in 1932 and has hosted The Masters tournament since 1934.

Oh goody, coming of +41 to Firethorn. Should pass that around hole 40 I think. We will see.

Round 1 and I was shocked at my outward half. The return was still actually good for a player of my caliber. If I tempered the really bad holes by a shot or two, this would have been special.

Played really well round one to shoot even par but then I remembered there’s a few spots you can’t hit your ball, namely a few bunkers the splash shot won’t get you out of! Round two littered with doubles a d trebles to shoot +6

Eagled 13 birdies on 14 and 15 gave me a sniff at getting back to level par. Whoops. Bogeys on 16 and 17 left me +3 before a birdie on 18 finished a rollercoaster 70 to finish +2 for the event

Thanks mate, was just a shame I chucked an 80 in there! You have to be mentally sharp on this course USE style for every shot as one lapse can cost you three shots very quickly! It’s a beaut of a layout, always has been. If anyone wants a chuckle, play my ghost in rd 3 and watch my pat on the 9th 🤣🤣

Anyone that has been here since the beginning probably knows and remembers that I hate playing this course with the white hot heat of 1000 burning suns.
If it were not a major, and therefore increased points, I probably would not play it. I still may not be able to bring myself to finish. LOL
R1 actually was not too bad until around hole 7, where I could not get out of a bunker. I mean, I was at the green in reg or so, only 11 yds from the hole in a deep bunker. But then, every time I would hit the ball, it would hit at the top and roll right back to me. When I finally smacked it hard enough to get on the green, my putt going back to the hole missed the hole, and you guessed it, the ball rolled all the way back down into that same bunker. Finally it gave me a max score for the hole, as I was trying to get back out of it again. I was so mad.

Sounds like Deja Vu - I did the EXACT same thing on that hole !! Didn't get the Max - but I do think I carded a 10 on that hole...quite disappointing.. Don't really remember, but I believe I am at +20 for R1..

Played the first round pretty well but that one hole killed me. Just didn't manage to get out of the bunker and once I did, and putted from above, back into the bunker I went... solid 10 on the scorecard Second round I played right after the first and was way better! Hit an amazing faded secod shot on par 5 hole 2 that landed in front of the green and rolled right past the hole for an eagle 3. Par 3 12th hole I found the water, but overall I'm super happy with the round. The green were slightly slower on round 2 and that helped me a lot compared to the first round, I'm still struggling with quick greens. Now the start of round 3... I made something I'm not proud of. On the first green I missed 3 or 4 very short putts, 100% tilted, powered off my console and walked away. Shouldn't have played so many rounds after another late at night, my concentration wasn't there... But still that's very unsportsmanlike and something I'm ashamed of

Highlight of my R1: Hit a beautiful drive on 13 to curl just around the trees on the left. Stuck a 3H to 15 feet and eagled. Went around Amen Corner at -3 with a par-birdie-eagle.
Lowlight of my R1: Three doubles and a triple. The worst was a double on 15. Hit a nice drive to the right side of the fairway. Hit another 3H on to the green a little short and to the left of the hole. The ball stayed where it stopped for just a second, then rolled back down into the rough by the water. Should have flopped from there, but I chipped. Four times. And from the same spot, as each chip rolled up on to the green and right back down to my feet. GW: not even close. PW: closer but still not enough. 9I: Yes! No, wait. Back down the hill again. 9I with a little extra roll: stopped 3 feet past the hole. Putt in for a 7. Rude words.
Second on PS4 at +4 after R1

Went +5, E, E, +5 for a +10 total. Rd1; Up and down front 9 (yes, 7 caught me out with a double) then completely egged 13 and 15, dropped 5 shots. Birdied 17 and 18 I think. Rd2; Sitting -3 then fell apart a bit. Rd3; All over the place again. Rd4; Went +7 on front 9 (triple on 9....rolled off the front 3 times) then was able to catch myself with a -2 back 9. Hit 3 or 4 beautiful close irons to tap in range and had a few chip ins which helped. Otherwise, may have been in the +20's. Good luck....you'll need it.
