My first round of Augusta this week showed me how much I love the settings we play here. Nothing is certain, that blow up is just around the corner but also that amazing shot is also. Playing pro difficulty only showed me how good master swing difficulty actually is. Instead of striping every drive straight down the middle with laser accuracy I get nervous on a lot of tee shots and it's a relief when I hit that tempo well. There is skill in timing and master difficulty requires that. 1st round with Robert and Anders produced some amazing moments. Robert produced some of the best long putting I have seen in this game and some of the worse putting under 5 foot (sorry mcbogga). I putted really well after hole 4, still learning this game and am adjusting my putting stroke for downhill putts. We have high scores relative to real life but to me this game feels so much better than the last game. Some real highlights in round 1 on a really tough course and am happy with the 77 after a scrappy start. Eagle pitch in on the par 5 13th and a really tough left to rough breaking 30 foot 1ft uphiller which felt great Robert's amazing 65 foot putt on 11 was special, nice to be able to share it. Highlights (would like to see more great shots from our members)

Round 2 - I can't putt. Simple as that. Missed a 3 foot for par on the 8th. That's how bad it was. 93% fairways (only miss was the 8th). Very good long game, though as it is in this game - 56% GIR. It certainly felt I hit more greens - but too many bogeys due to bad putting this round.

I enjoyed my drive on the 2nd. It's not every day you hit 396 yards off the tee I will record more of my rounds. Perhaps I remember it on my 3rd round this week.

Cant get used to the new putting mechanic for shorter putts. Was fuming putting it off the green on 9.
Also - didn’t realize that the bunker on 10 is actually in play nowadays...

Round 4 and the real Art finally showed up (at least between 4 an 14 where I was a robust 8 over par for 11 holes). Did manage to chirp 3 of the last 4, so I have that going for me. Seriously, SO much better than I anticipated. I can almost see Todd getting his PC jacket. Well played Tuffguts. GL to all yet to play/finish. Onward!

That’s 2 tournaments in a row where I’ve been competitive (top five on PS4) through 3 rounds, then had a disaster on one hole on the front nine in R4 to take me out of contention. It’s been demoralizing enough to move me into “I don’t care” mode, with predictable results. +12 through 60 holes; +26 over the last twelve holes. Slithered into the clubhouse at +38. Fortunately artvandelay and @sirwade were buying, so I felt better after a few single malts. 😀 My mental game apparently needs as much work as my physical game.

Round 3: best round so far for me with good solid play. My problem with the putting is still there - I need to do some practice on putting. What I experience since the new controller (it may also be before that, don't remember), is that I still slowly take the club back, and the forward motion will many times not register. This brings bad confidence, since I need to do it over and over again and suddenly it responds - and then the respond may shoot too hard. What I finaly did this round, was to bring back the club faster on the longer putts - and the problem is not there anymore - I just need to time the backswing length better with that technique. I am not experiencing this problem on the shorter putts - but I think I carry the lack of confidence on to those as well. And I forgot to record the round.. (I did remember it, but that was at the 14th..a little too late, so maybe 4th round?)

Anyone remember Bubba Watson in the forest when he won? With a driver, not only is the bunker in play, but the far forest as well. And you get good roll with a wood.

Yep, the 3W is the play for sure, but I was not in the strategic mood after the start I had. Birdied both 10 and 11 so reckless abandon ftw I guess....

I hit driver on the 10th all the time, so don't look at me In the first round, I was down in the forest missing right (double bogey) - but fairway in both round 2 and 3.

I figured I need some time on putting before I record - but should have recorded this round either way. Very good round - but managed a "Spieth" on the 12th - max score, +10? I think on that hole alone. First a slip on the tee shot (which result in very slow), and then a couple more pitches in the water.. Before then, I calculated short putt misses to be ca. 5 strokes, like a 4 foot birdie on 1st. Managed to play decent after the big snowman on 12th though, until I again missed short on both 17th and 18th.
