Because of the ongoing debate in the clubhouse forum of the tgct site, I decided to test this out playing USE to see if I could beat what I did for my first round here (-5) using a push swing (local match with same settings). It took a few restarts as the tempo oddly felt a little different (less force to get a perfect), but once I had that down this was the result. I just aimed where I normally would, then moved left for a few seconds and shot. These are definitely what I would call absolutely brutal swings, yet as was proven in that thread, the penalty for having a terrible push seems far less than when shooting straight up/down and missing. It is pretty consistent. My score here is definitely boosted by way better than normal putting lol, but the point really isn’t just the score, it’s to show the accuracy of the swing even when playing sim. I was never in any danger of bogeying really. I played very fast, by my standards at least, if anyone is interested in watching. I think I just par the rest of the way after hole 15 if you want to stop there (that 85% SW I have at one point was totally planned by the way 😉)
The purpose of this isn’t to attack anyone who uses a push, it was just a test that yielded a pretty scary result so I wanted to share. Everyone seems cool here and Im sure anyone here who does it isnt meaning to exploit anything, it’s just how they swing. So I don’t know how I feel, how could it even be policed. Even myself, I have always tended to have to swing line unintentionally to the right when doing a fast. My thumb when moving fast just goes that way. It happens on chips too sometimes, to the point I started aiming a bit left as it made sense to do so. But now with the evidence, even a push chip is something I wouldn’t do anymore, not here at least. Anyways, enough rambling. Here is the video:

And so it begins Thanks for taking the time to do this and post it over here too. No problem! It was kinda fun, in a “how the hell is this even working” sense lol. It really just boiled down to aim. The swing itself took little effort, only enough to avoid getting an unwanted fast. It would always at least be in the ballpark of what I was trying for, and that’s all it takes with this.

When I first read about this after Paul posted it, I couldn't believe it. How does HB not immediately fix a flaw like this. Then I wondered is this how some are shooting -50s in tournaments? Then as Booze said, how can you police something like this? I've always played by the rules and will continue to play this way. My question is how can you un-know something like this? In a way it is deflating and almost ruins the game for me. Now anytime someone has a great round there will be suspicion that they used this push swing method.

Perhaps a slightly different take on this, with reply from HB Shaun on it. Can someone explain why this point DOESN'T change the overall position on this, I don't understand the whole thing well enough. www.hb-studios.com/forum/index.php/topic29621.0.html?PHPSESSID=nvvq60jfdiut6pbbisv428drn1So the reply was along the lines of if there is a section at the top of the line that goes outside, the majority was still within the cone and therefore there is only a small penalty, and players are only being sensible in adjusting their aim to allow for it. Is this a separate point to the push/pull thing? Has hb Shaun missed the point? Is the "real" push swing something else, with more exaggerated outside the cone stuff going on? Edit: can't get the link to work! GW Hope linked it in the debate on the other forum...

It is a joke really, Booze swings like a hacker and still hits -11 (no offence booze I know you're not a hacker really ). The results of some of those swings should be in the trees and he should be struggling to break 80, have your say in the HB forum if you are as angry as me about this HB Dispersion linear? link

I have quite worse swing lines than booze and find booze's lines to be very consistent and with very little dispersion. So according to you, I should never hit a fairway in this game. Thank you. It has always been well known to me that the big misses are with tempo, and that swing lines are giving less miss. There will not be more difficulty in this game - sorry that it is doable for mortals like me. I think it is totaly fine that some want a more challenging game - but I find that I have found a quite good challenge with my 60-65% fairway stat and the same in GIR. If there had been a more difficult settings, I would not use it - and I have no problem that others might want to use it. This is the main reason I have been a single-player gamer in all golf games - this society is the only exception. I have no intention of practicing so much with the controller to be "the best" and swing inside the blue bar all the time. So I have found no fun in playing in things like the TGC tours with unrealistic low scoring, and have no ambition in winning in USE at all. With all this fuss - I am seriously considering if I want to continue here - I thought we had a community that was not that focused on the competition, more on the realistic side of things. It seems I was wrong. In single player, I can play at the difficulty level I choose, and play the way I want to play the game. I will always pull my shots in this game - and I will always have more dispersion in my swing lines than the best players. I have no problem with others being better at the game than me - as I said, I am not in USE to win, but it is nice to beat some of you from time to time. This to me, has becoming "oh, Anders has it too easy, he score too well with his crooked swing lines" - and I do not like it. Do it seems like the game is too easy for me? Perhaps it is too easy for others, but there is nothing that can and will be done about it - and it has always been this way, so I have a very hard time understanding the complains at this time. (Yes, -40 is unrealistic low scoring, but those that score it playing in USE are good at the game - much better than me - and you will not see me complain about it).

I get much straighter lines but with much poorer results so something is very wrong, I am not sure if you played TGC2 Anders but it was much more difficult to hit straight, damn near impossible when my xbox 1 controller got worn out. I always assumed that the idea was to keep it inside the blue zone but some of booze's shots were not even in the blue zone. It is not about competition it is about realism for me so seeing shots that are not being punished as much as my shots is frustrating, surely you can understand that Anders.

You can swing from side to side, and if the total points on either side cancel each other out, the swing will be straight, even if the swing line is the complete opposite of straight. It is how the game is made, and HB will not change it. No I did not play TGC 2 - and I have played TGC 1 for .. maybe 10 hours in total. Yes Paul, I feel it is the competition - you think your line is straighter, and therefore should score better than me that have a more crooked swing. Even if the game is designed to have the average of your swing-line determine the swing plane. A crooked swing line can be straighter than a straight swing line - as it is implemented. And it is intentional implemented this way, not a bug or flaw.

All the tutorials tell you to swing inside the blue zone. So why can you swing outside it and get better results?

All the tutorials tell you to swing inside the blue zone. So why can you swing outside it and get better results? HB designed the game this way - ask them. They are happy the way this works. There is no one forcing anyone to play this game, but if you play it - you play it as designed by HB - and this is a intentional design. A crooked swing line can be straighter than a straight swing line if the average is straighter. How far of a pull or push is determined on the average you miss the center - so if you start your line on the left side of the center, and finish at the right side, and the average is center - the shot is perfectly straight.

Are we talking about straight down and then an 11:55 type position that pulls it slightly?
