We play the Players Championship at the incredible stadium course at TPC Sawgrass before we move on to Europe.
Just southeast of Jacksonville, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, we find TPC Sawgrass. Designed by Pete and Alice Dye. Fun fact: the 17th signature hole was not planned to be an island green, but water just on the right side. The land around the green consisted of alot of sand that was used on the course - so after the digging the sand it had left a big crater around the green. Alice Dye suggested an island green - Pete was not thrilled but went with it - and the result is one of the most famous holes in golf.

Looking forward to this, managed to hit my best round so far on the game with Sawgrass default settings yesterday - 5. Played pretty well against Will in matchplay on the same course also 😁

I had to get my rounds in early because it's a long flight to Helsinki G.C. next week. Overall a decent round that could have been better. I missed 4 putts inside 4 ft. in the fourth round. Three of them were birdie putts and one was a par putt! I finished at (+8) overall which averages to (+2) per round. This is what I was averaging during my practice rounds. Good Luck to all getting ready to tee off!

Once again failed to get the last round in at Merion, annoying but have other priorities at the moment. Pretty happy with the start at Sawgrass, even if I still make to many mistakes and cant really dial in the swing. Could not captialize properly on the par 5s and short par 4s, there are low numbers available here.... 68% FIR and 56% GIR this far is still OK. Near Alby at 16 in the first round was nice as well!

Nice shot, really improved pin mechanics in this game I think that would of dropped in TGC2019.

Off and away at The Players. Enjoyed being paired up with Dave for Round 1. Mcbogga is spot on that low scores are there for the taking. Definitely had my chances. Apart from a few pulls with the driver. Struck the ball well from tee to green. Made some really good putts to save pars. Just missed on my other birdies opps. Both of us hit it close on 17. Great bounce back from him after the 16th. Quite pleased to get off to a solid start after Merion.

Where you see birdie opportunities, I see trees, sand and WATER. Despite being in a good mood after shooting par at New Oxfordshire in light wind yesterday evening, that swing and confidence is obviously still in Oxfordshire. 2 times chasing ducks in the ponds resulted in 84. Especially remember the tee shot at 13th with the pin back right and my toughts "good, don't have to worry about water". Haha, the pull of day followed... I played with mcbogga and polekatt. It's like having a real pro playing with you IRL with mcbogga, a learning experience (I hope). And I had a fun fight with polekatt and managed to edge ahead when he visited the water at 16th. But I needed a drink at 17th off course. Looking forward to another horror show tomorrow. Or will it be a triumph?

Was cruising nicely at -6, then splashed from the rough onto the green on 15.....2 shot penalty please. That's what you get going straight from 3 rounds of TST to USE. Got all flustered and rushed the next 3 holes - birdie bogey bogey for a -5.....errr ahem....-3 Rd1. Sorry 'bout that.

I finally got some time to dive back, first 2 rounds this week, 75 & 72 for +3. No interruptions, good music and a biiig glass of wine, golf was fun again First round was a proper rollercoaster, 5 birdies, a triple on 6th and a lot of everything else. Second round was more of a scrambling to stay alive kind of situation, got a nice eagle on 11th with a short putt! Overall made some big putts to keep me going, but also some stupid decisions and took many penalties...

Not the best start for me. Too many water balls - and made some silly mistakes at some other holes as well - including a three putt for par on the 16th after a very good approach. A few very short putts from semi-close.. 20 feetish that left me 7-9 feet for the next.

Round 1 and very pleased with that effort. Sank a couple of long putts, including a 70 foot uphiller on the par 3 13th. Had a chip for eagle on 16 that ended up inches short. Annoying bogey on 17 after a three putt. Overall pleased.

Round 2 and I continued battle it out with polekatt. We both started better than last time, 38 and 39 after 9. Being one behind after 15 being 3 over was feeling very nice, finally putting it together, both of us. Then came the last three...
We both missed the fairway on 16th and had to lay up. Katt pitched nicely to some 10-15 ft. I decided to go for a full LW from 96 yds and a wind slightly against. Thought I had hit good enough to come close, the dreaded gasps from the audience sent chill down my spine. Yes, too long and in the water -> triple bogey. Katt two putted for par and I was now behind (and taking a break in the sofa, haha). Finishing with two pars and 78 was a step forward, even if it burns a little. Poor Katt was hitting the water at both 17th and 18th. I can feel your pain, Katt. What could have been... For both of us.
We have potential! 😁

Had a bit of a mental 1st round, birdied the first 6 and then panicked missed two short birdie putts to turn in 30 before playing really solid on the back to close out a 62 and sitting at -10 after round 1, by far the best I've ever played this game, plus I know Sawgrass very well on the game!
