Sorry but this course is a bad joke - utter rubbish greens, and in all my days I have never seen anything like the pin on the 17th in R4. On the green, 11 feet away in 2 shots and below the hole. So I hit the eagle putt, and miss it by 2" to the right, the ball stops by the hole side and then rolls all the way back down to my bloody feet. Grr. Adjust aim, this time it stops just to the left and yet again rolls all the way back down to my feet. I ended up 3 putting for a par, when it should have been a tap-in birdie by anybody's standards. The ball has to be below the pin, as anything to either side has no chance at all - if the hole does not get in the way then the ball is gone, turning 120 degrees and above the hole will put you off the front again unless the hole gets in the way. Complete tricked up arcade nonsense. The greens were not at all true, full of lumps & bumps and it was a 4 round grind on a horrendous green set with far, FAR too many pins on excessive slope gradients. Never again. Not there. That is the worst set of greens I have ever seen in this game by a long, long way.

Precisely two posts this guy has made on our forum. One a condescending rant about climate change, and one a tantrum after not playing well 😂
Clearly the 17th green is not very well done. It's obviously got a big slope in real life, and the designer has tried to recreate it, and gone too far, or set green speed too high. The rest of round 4 pins has some slopes, but nothing crazy. Calling a whole course "arcade" and "tricked up" because of one hole is pretty ridiculous. Doing it as only your 2nd ever post after being signed up for months is downright hilarious.
The course was a fairly easy and benign setup. It wasn't designed to be hard or "tricked up," there were just one or two minor errors on it. I got 3 birdies and an eagle on 17, so I LOVE the hole 😉

hmmm, where to start, where to start... .how about.....
I DID IT!!!!!!!
I played a very nervous but yet fun Round 4 with my friend and rival, artvandelay and finally, THIS happened!!
wow. I purposely did not read anything here before tonight, because I wanted to play him and feel the pressure of what it would feel like in a real tournament, not knowing what would happen. The nerves were definitely there! Every shot, even the gimme's, where nerve racking!
I thought I had lost the game on hole #5. I pulled one of those, where I miss a birdie putt, then miss the easy par coming back the other way, and end with a bogie. But I guess this time, the pressure of the game inspired me, because my putter was on fire for several holes after that. Then on 11, I missed another easy one, then another, and suddenly we were tied, I think. Now, mind you, to make matters worse, I had completely forgotten what the total score was after round 3. I knew we were fairly close, and I thought I was ahead, but I couldn't remember for sure, so being neck and neck on the back stretch was really a tight game.
Then, my shot of the week happened.
I did not record and post it, because I had no idea it would qualify until coming here and reading others woes with 17's green. I putted before Art, so I didn't have any idea of what would happen. I simply putted, and guessed the break and slope perfectly, and the ball went straight in for a beauty of an eagle.
As I'm standing there silently dancing my jig, watching my friend putt, I saw his ball stop and roll all the way back to him. Oh no, I thought, one of those holes. So when he tried again, I was now behind him pulling like crazy for it to go in, and sure enough, the ball stopped, but then rolled in the hole on the way back down.
We both played the last hole, then shared a handshake and bro hug. Great game, my friend, great game, I look forward to many more!

Well played polekatt/josia, a well earned victory. If I was there I would have doused you with the finest, coldest PBR I could find! But I'm coming after you, don't look back! Onward!

I got 3 birdies and an eagle on 17, so I LOVE the hole 😉 I'm with Neil on this one. And it wasn't just the "one hole". The greens on *all* the holes were not good at all. The lumps and bumps made the ball not roll true, and were often not visible from any angle. I won't ever play this course again solely because of the greens. Other than the greens, it's a beautiful course. I'd hardly call his post a "tantrum". He strongly criticized the course, and I think the course (at least the greens) deserves the criticism. He didn't address anyone or anything except the course. Your response, however, edges some towards a personal attack, and we don't need that here. I agree his climate change post was antagonistic, but for him and me that is a serious hot-button issue. You and I and he disagree strongly about that stuff. You made a good call at the time to end the debate. Please use the same discretion now. I asked Neil to join this society because he's a good video golfer who also believes that the good of the game is greater than any individual performance. He, too, was sick of the exploits being used over at TGCT. It was a bitch, though, getting him to give up his green grids. Cheers.

Despite the horrendous greens, I managed a top-ten finish on the handicap leaderboard, and just missed a top-ten on the actual leaderboard. (Sidebar: what is the proper term for the actual leaderboard versus the handicap leaderboard? Is it just "leaderboard"?) I didn't putt well, but that isn't down solely to the greens on this course. It's more to do with the fact that my putting in general is just not very good.
