And it's the WHO's job to force those fuckers to do it. Well it is now after all this death, that's always what it takes. Huge fatalities to stop future fatalities. My point has been it's softened LOADS since the 70s and 80s and that I think we're hypocritical about certain aspects of their behaviour when we do similar in many areas. |

No, I didn't know that mate. I thought it was just certain games and the censorship stuff. I feel like you want me to feel EXACTLY the same way you do about China, and that's not going to happen. Especially in the context of me being MORE critical of western countries than you as well. I'm very critical of China, I've been critical of them in this discussion with you. I feel the same way about the major superpowers as you do about politicians. They're all terrible! I have a little penchant for "defending" (I don't like that word, because that's not what it really is!) China because I've studied history and politics and I know what the west has done, and does do. And people tend to argue this stuff on a "them and us" type of viewpoint. If you'd ask me, as an individual, if I'd rather live in America or China, I'd rather live in America, but why does that have to be the only measure of "good" and "bad?" Ask all the black and Mexican people in America if they'd like to try living somewhere else. But that's besides the point. America has done WAY more damage around the world than China has. You talk about China causing deaths with a virus, how many deaths has American foreign policy caused? I get that right now we're talking about coronavirus, and I get the anger, don't know how many times I can reiterate that to you. But I see things from a slightly different perspective to you, that's all. I don't really see it as a direct disagreement to you, which you seem to be doing. |

I won’t get into the nitty gritty, but at least China used the WHO test, America didn’t even do that. The wet markets are more an economic issue than cultural. When those poor workers can afford a fridge and proper plumbing I think they’ll get one and wet markets will be a thing of the past. There’s still massive gaps in the Chinese wealth structure for now.
Just like all world orders like the UN, the WHO are toothless tigers. Hopefully this changes.
I think overall China is still deceptive. They WILL be the next superpower, and I think as their position strengthens they’ll realise it’s easier and more profitable to play fair and have an open society. I don’t think they’ll make the same mistakes the US made (ridiculous gun laws, defense spending instead of health care, the myth of American exceptionalism etc). They had a short reign on top, they became a superpower after WW2 and threw it all away by 2020.
