This week brings us up North on Highway 1 from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area and TPC Harding Park. Home of the 2020 PGA Championship won by Collin Morikawa. The PGA Championship marked the first Major Championship held at the TPC property surrounded by Lake Merced. It has also hosted the 2005 WGC American Express Championship, the 2009 Presidents Cup and returned for the 2015 WGC Cadillac Match Play. Forecast this week is typical Bay Area weather. Lots of sunshine, breeze coming off the Pacific Ocean and when the winds change can come from the East Bay. Marine layer and fog has been known to come in off the coast and could most likely come in to play on either nine of the course. Greens will be quite receptive but will firm up on the weekend. Good luck and enjoy your rounds!

I've been playing a few, ok several, practice rounds at Harding Park. I am still amazed how well this first course design turned out for @pakalolo77! What a fantastic job, Well done Will! 🍺🍺🍺🍺👏

What a fantastic job, Well done Will! 🍺🍺🍺🍺👏 Thanks Wade! As all the designers here know creating a course and everything involved, it starts to be a labor of love. A painstaking one at times , but in the end getting the course to how you want and putting everything into place on course that you know well in real life. Makes it all worth it in the end. Lost count of the hours spent on this one for sure! Good luck this week Wade!

I can't understand why every week you set the winds so high. This format is hard enough, especially with the changes made by HB, you will end up with fewer players if you keep going down this route.

I don’t necessarily think high winds (even very high) once in a while is an issue, it’s just real life conditions, especially relevant on links or coastal courses, which Harding is. The changes made by HB are certainly making play challenging but it’s just a case of us adapting and getting back to our best form, when we all switched to the new game, scores of +10 were winning events and gradually that ended up at -20 and sometimes better. We are just back to square one again, I’m struggling to break par again but I’m sure in a couple of weeks I’ll get back to doing so, if I stick at it. Conditions aren’t the issue, we are just adapting to a new mechanic so I think we need to be patient and not jump the gun about changing our USE style or conditions until we’ve given it a fair go. You’re a really solid player Simon and I’m sure you’ll be back shooting great scores before a lot of others

I tend to agree with you. I didn't enjoy shooting +18 over at the US OPEN. There are other players that won't post their scores. That is a sure sign that they are not having fun. We have already lost a lot of members. Personally I would like to see everyone use all Silver Clubs and Legend Difficulty or All Purple Clubs on Pro Difficulty. I think it would be so much more fun if there were more players grouped together fighting for the lead. This would make it a little easier to play with harsh weather/course conditions. I would vote to try a couple of tournaments with these settings just to see how they would play out. I know that I'm a minority on this thinking though.

I think the difficult thing is you’ll always have disparity in playing ability in such a diverse society, regardless of clubs or difficulty. For example, if Stoney, Sloane or Booze play then they’re going to win regardless but this is why we do handicapped scoring, to level the playing field. I personally play USE because I don’t like shooting -15 every round, I’m sadistic and love grinding out a +2 round haha! I’m completely open to discussing ways we can keep everyone happy as long we don’t lose track of the grounding of this society

New member here. Cane in late for torrey so I didnt get all of the rounds in. Looking forward to Harding park. I think this is the society I've been looking for as I enjoy a good challenge. My understanding of your house rules are no chipping from sand or on greens and splash shot can only be used in a bunker. I think it was also said that chipping is allowed in green if you have to cross a patch of rough. Anyway, see you all at harding!

Playing this way is the most realistic way to play 2k21. It can be a little difficult at times though

I can't understand why every week you set the winds so high. This format is hard enough, especially with the changes made by HB, you will end up with fewer players if you keep going down this route. On this course and theme, high winds the meter is only half full (attached screenshot). While medium is technically low winds on other themed courses. On some of the longer holes of Harding Park it actually helps out the player which makes the par 5s reachable which there are only two due to the Tour version. And also the par 4 7th and 16th driveable, three out of the four rounds. These greens have been tested at 187 and fair landing areas to access the pins. But since this is not a Major they won't be even close to those speed for us this week. Also those first two holes in Overcast conditions for R2 can be slightly tough to see the fairways with the fog setting if you are unaware of the line to take. Particularly the 2nd hole. Anders has told me about that. But after that the lighting in my opinion does justice to how Harding Park plays in real life. If not gets even foggier with a mist. I know that we are only playing game but wanted to immerse the player for one of our rounds here.

Well, I was cruising along at -3. I was on the back 9, not sure what hole and don't care. I hit a shot into the bunker. With our settings and HB/2Ks new swing enhancements, it took me several shots to get out of the bunker. Then on another hole I hit a red fast and went of the fairway and down a bank into the water. Several shots later. trying to get back on the fairway I exceeded my shot limit for the hole. I went from -3 to +10 for the round. I'm not going to finish the tournament. I'm sorry but it has come to the point where I'm no longer competitive nor having fun. I am going to play career mode where I can have settings that make the game competitive and fun for me. I wish you guys the best. Cheers 🍺🍺🍺

One needs to be absolutely on their game to do well week in and week out, heck even hole by hole it seems of late. And if you aren't, the way that we play is very unforgiving. Know you've been on the fence a few times. But have soldiered on with some good events here and there. You were the one who brought me back for this season after being away from USE. Hate to see this message of yours. It is game, one that we play for enjoyment first and foremost. Close knit group of players that we have. 36 weeks so far is a long commitment and still more to go to complete this season. In the end, I personally hope you reconsider but understand where you are coming from.

We all have rubbish days at this game because it’s tough as hell now! You’re a good player and you’ll adapt I’m certain. When the new mechanic game out I had to withdraw from two events for exactly the same reason and as tedious as it was, I spent three hours on the range grooving perfect tempos and then spent an hour round the bunkers doing the same thing, not sure if it’ll help but I also reset the intention on bunker shots to 100% (LW is 15 yards, SW 20 yards) and they’re the only two I use and I tend to err on hitting bunker shots long to make sure I get out in one, partials are quite hard to time but can be done with practice. I’ya definitely a lot harder but before bunker shots were very easy, I even used to aim at them on tough par 4s as was easier than pitching out of heavy rough, now there’s no advantage for either. You’ll figure out your method I’m certain but it will take some annoying practice!
