The new mechanic is definitely like real golf, nips you in the bud whenever things are looking good! it's so stressful trying to get round in one piece currently! Yes and it gives you that nice feeling when you hit a good drive as it is challenging off the tee now, more than it has ever been, love that. A 3 wood is actually easier to hit for me, so it is a good strategy on shorter holes.Ironically I seem to have developed a grey fast drive which is a similar ball flight to my real game. Definitely! I've taken to playing without the feedback again and can tell by the ball flight what tempo I've hit, I definitely favour a grey fast with the driver and 3 wood but also have the purple long clubs because I might as well be a long way down in the rough! the mechanic is good now but it's bloody hard so I do hope people persevere until they crack it - it's taken me a week of playing 5 rounds a day to get the configuration right. I decided to set my swing calibration to very fast so my poor shots tend to be leaks to the short right but also if I swing very quickly I tend to nail perfects 60% of the time which is playable, I'm also using fairly forgiving irons now too

I have also noticed (or imagined) that the wind affects the ball more. If I hit my 286 yds Titleist good into a medium to high headwind is rolled out to approx 260 yards. Get the same impression at approaches into the wind. Fade it a little into headwind and it dies like it should.

Yeh, I also found hitting 97% or 95% has quite a big impact now on coming up short as opposed to before. For me I had to re-learn the game as I was using both fasts and slows to negate the trouble on the course, effectively taking one side of the course out of play through tempo shotmaking and only used perfects for short irons and pitching (hence why this area of my game is the same!) so I had to find a new stock shot of the tee which for me is either a perfect, predominantly grey slow and occassional grey fast. my big miss now off the tee is always a red slow so I can tend to aim at the left edge and let rip although this new stock shot isnt great on right to left doglegs¬

Also the longer irons are just better out of the heavy rough because every shot you are hitting has more loft. The forgiving wedges are vital for the short game, that 83 yard LW has been there from the start so the distances for pitch are muscle memory now.

My card for the final round and I repeated my -1 of the third round, hopefully after much club swapping, I have put together a set that handles these latest changes well. Striking in general much more consistent now. My scores for the week.

Now here is solid proof that a warm up is crucial. I am guilty of going in cold to my USE rounds and round 2 is proof, round 3 after round 2's poor showing was really good, more missed birdie chances than grinding out pars and the swing felt GOOD . Would of been really good if not for hole 2 meltdown. Putter has been really good and I had a real eye for these greens for all 3 rounds, nice to feel the confidence of holing putts from under 20 ft. Cracking course from @pakalolo77, if you are wandering where Will is on this forum, he is missing because he is in VR land Little tip lets all get involved in our great secondary tournaments from colly and paddyjk19 , today showed me how much I need them and I take them as seriously as our main event.

Also more proof that it is about warming up, split my 2 rounds into 4 individual 9 holes and the scoring went +8,+3,E,-2.Progressively better.

Been on the beer wine and champers all day as it was my mum's 80th so was expecting much worse, the 22 foot breaking par putt on 18 felt good though. Driving was poor and this is a course where you need the long stick as your friend.

Glad you enjoyed this version of Harding Park Paul 👍 I was really on the fence of the Tour or playing the Lidar (members) version for our event this week. After the US Open at Torrey, to follow up with another par 70 that plays similar but not nearly as long adds to the beat down from last week. Anything in single digits over par is pretty good with all the new swing changes in my opinion. Lidar version would've been a bit more forgiving with two more par 5s. It is what it is though 😁. Yeah needed a bit of a break from pixel golf. If anyone has been on the fence about VR for racing/flight sims. I am definitely addicted and can't go back to a 4k tv for those games. So much more immersive. Although started to get to grips on the long game especially the driver. A thing of beauty now when you hit the fairway. Not taking those for granted anymore...even the 250 yard drivers have upped my FIRs 🤣
