Well, I was cruising along at -3. I was on the back 9, not sure what hole and don't care. I hit a shot into the bunker. With our settings and HB/2Ks new swing enhancements, it took me several shots to get out of the bunker. Then on another hole I hit a red fast and went of the fairway and down a bank into the water. Several shots later. trying to get back on the fairway I exceeded my shot limit for the hole. I went from -3 to +10 for the round. I'm not going to finish the tournament. I'm sorry but it has come to the point where I'm no longer competitive nor having fun. I am going to play career mode where I can have settings that make the game competitive and fun for me. I wish you guys the best. Cheers 🍺🍺🍺 I did something similar IRL last week on the golf course and kicked my bag over and vowed to never play again. Playing this afternoon... We all have rubbish days at this game because it’s tough as hell now! You’re a good player and you’ll adapt I’m certain. When the new mechanic game out I had to withdraw from two events for exactly the same reason and as tedious as it was, I spent three hours on the range grooving perfect tempos and then spent an hour round the bunkers doing the same thing, not sure if it’ll help but I also reset the intention on bunker shots to 100% (LW is 15 yards, SW 20 yards) and they’re the only two I use and I tend to err on hitting bunker shots long to make sure I get out in one, partials are quite hard to time but can be done with practice. I’ya definitely a lot harder but before bunker shots were very easy, I even used to aim at them on tough par 4s as was easier than pitching out of heavy rough, now there’s no advantage for either. You’ll figure out your method I’m certain but it will take some annoying practice! I really like what they have done with splash, I hit 2 bad bunker shots just after the patch and have been pretty solid after then. Like you Paddy I am prone to the chipping green and practice a lot there for splash shot tempo also now. I have noticed not much work has been done on chipping, it is still easy to hit a very fast tempo and get great results. I actually just holed out on 2 awful chip shots from heavy rough. I really recommend forgiving wedges also now my splash LW is 17 and SW 21 GW 25 the same TM wedges I have always used in this game. The rest of my clubs are distance rather than forgiving. Wade, I don't use practice swings personally but have no problems with those using them to get a feel for the short game tempo which is vital apart from chipping. Also I tend to now choose rehit rather than play a shot from an edge of hill or cliff. Tbh the ball can land in some places that would be unplayable in real life with the avatar taking up some silly stances. Also I am not competitive (I just don't have the time to practice and am generally too tired in the weekday evenings to play) but I enjoy playing against everyone here and love the immersion of the set up. I think part of the appeal is that it is tough and when we score and play really well it feels pretty special. Pro difficulty feels like going through the motions for me, Legend is brutal on swing plane, while master feels right to me there. I have really struggled with swing plane with some huge pulls this week as my XBox One controller is getting very loose. I just now bit the bullet and ordered a lovely blue and white XBox Series S/X controller

The forgiving wedges help with pitching where tempo is so penal

Same goes for splash. I have hit some great result partial pitch and splash even when missing the tempo box.

@pakalolo77, colly, paddyjk19, hammers1man and other well wishers. Thank you for the encouraging words. I was extremely frustrated last night. I had a good nights rest and decided to finish off the tournament this morning. My heart wasn't completely in it, but I love the course so much that it pushed me through. I shot +10 the first round and +5 the remaining 3 rounds to finish at +15 for the tournament. Good Luck to all yet to tee off and don't get as frustrated as I was! I am still having problems with some chips and bunker shots and I believe it could be my intent %. Does anyone know how I can reset this to default or change it? Do I need the meter on to do this in practice? My apologies to the USE society for my frustrations!

You probably had your bunker mishap when the game really slowed your backswing down. You can speed it up a little bit by pushing forward your non swinging stick.

If you find the set intent to have too slow a backwsing you can speed it up or reset to 100%. Most shots the intent is set to 100%. We can't see the percentage or the marker because we use no marker, we just see the backswing speed.

I also noticed the Distance Control Assist was turned on as well. I believe you have this turned off in tournament settings? This could be the reason for my inconsistency from practice rounds to tournament rounds.

Yes, what Paul said - I have intent on 100% by resetting the club when chipping and splash, I tend to leave the intent on pitch as the game recommends to me but if I have to chose pitch as opposed to a chip, I just pull back on the right stick and check the swing speed until it feels vaguely right, it's hard to explain this as it's a bit of a feel thing

A couple of mistakes on the front 9 in round 1 but a tidy back 9 👍

Round 1 card. I will take that, seriously more difficult now with all the changes.

Round 1 at this wonderful creation of a golf course. Played with our newest member, jeffield . We were dressed almost alike and had a chuckle at that before teeing off. He showed a lot of good golf and a very descent score at his second tournament. I had a clean card with some unlikely par saves. Putted very well and striking the ball ok led to a good start.

Round 2 and walking and talking with paddyjk19 . It was like seeing an exaggerated Olazabal in his hay day. Short swinging, almost chipping, many drives (not on purpose I am sure) leaving a lot of work left to make a par. And he did, and did again. Never seen such display of wedges and pitches to save par for such a long period of time. With better drives, that could have been a 63-64. I could not find a good tempo and had to get out the short game (not on a Paddy scale though). My 2 birdies on the front were a 11 yard pitch in from the heavy rough and a chip in. Chipped in for par as well once. 2 bogies on the back and both were 3 putts from over 50 feet. Keeping myself under par and happy.

This is a tough course, under par is a good score.
