The third major is this week - at the south course on Torrey Pines. Torrey Pines is owned by San Diego, and was named after the Torrey Pine that is a rare tree that grows in the wild only on the coast of San Diego and Santa Rosa island. Both the north and the south course on Torrey Pines was designed by William F. Bell. The south course was redesigned in 2001 by Rees Jones - and another redesign was done in 2019. The north course was redesigned by Tom Weiskopf in 2016. Torrey Pines has hosted Farmers Insurance Open since the 60's using both courses. Torrey Pines also hosted the US Open in 2008 and are back to hosting this event in 2021. We will be playing only the south course - and ofcourse the greenkeeper has been asked to set US Open conditions for us to give us a real challenge. We will also be playing all rounds from the back tees - 7735 yards. Good luck to all!

Since Anders got Torrey Pines setup for the US Open. Decided to sneak on with the trackman and hit a few off the tee. Golf Channel and NBC were seen getting ready in the broadcast towers throughout the course. Pebble was tough, this is gonna be next level challenging this coming week I think.

Tiger won in 2008 on playoff. Two at -1 and one at even par. US Open usualy means over par winner. I would not be surprised if the winner here is also over par. π

First round - a couple of costly mistakes. Advice: do not miss above the hole I got a distraction on the tee shot on 15th, Hook OB. Good on the par 5's, but missed the bunker shot on 13th short which was costly.

I just finished an extremely torturous U.S. Open Tournament at Torrey Pines. I didn't bother posting scorecards. There was so much blood on them you couldn't read them anyway! I did manage to shoot even par in Round 4! All I can say is I'm glad I'm in the clubhouse drinking some πΊπΊπΊ

I am happy with second round - though felt I should have a few more birdies as I had several opportunities from inside 15 feet.

My card for the opening round. Pretty pleased with that effort in the conditions. Started fairly slowly, but a great run around the turn cancelled all that out, including a holed bunker shot on the 11th. One more bogey but a nice finish on 18 to finish level for the round.

In round 2 I was 3 under through 6 holes.I then had a 10 footer for another birdie on the 7th,got too aggressive not once but 4 times which ended up with a 5 putt triple bogey π€―. Couldnβt really get the head back on after that π

Round 2 and again with the course designer/sadist andersnm . Played well and payed for the mistakes and we both ended up with a 74. Yesterday was me playing at my very best, About 5-7 bad shots out of 70 and the bogie I made was a missed 5 footer after a 6 yard chip. Even at the halfway mark is a lot better than I anticipated. And once again looking in awe at Anders driving the ball from tee.

Not sure what is going on here but in Round 2, about three greens so far, it has been so dark it is impossible to try and read the greens. Difficult enough playing this way, without this.
