Wow that was tough, tee'd up with Paddy and new member jeffield who certainly has the pitching game for USE. He played some good stuff but his putter was cold for those tricky medium putts. Lovely pitch for a tap in par on 16 from him, I had nearly the same shot and also manage to get up and down. I think splash has been nerfed a bit, total duff out of the sand on 8, I still managed to hit to 4 foot from my second sand shot but gave too much break and hit it 40 foot past and a quadruple bogey to make a complete mess of the hole. Got my driver back in groove on 14 and managed to par my way to 18, really enjoyed the challenge on an excellent course from Anders. I agree with you Paul. I was playing a practice round for next week and it took me 3 tries to get out of a deep green side bunker. I had to go up a club to the sand wedge to get out. I've never had that happen before. I am also seeing the same thing with a chip in heavy green side rough. I have to go up a club to get a full back swing. I used to just get lazy from bunker shots but you need to have good timing now just as it should be. Also they have fixed the splash bite and check up from heavy rough, splash is penalised for red fast and slow now. All our moaning on the HB boards might be paying off finally 😉

I remember how Shaun made the comment that luckily he didn't end up in the bunker where he short-sided himself on the 18th on East Lake on a presentation video they had before the game was released. I reckon Shaun don't play golf in real life, at least not on a level that would know how bad it is to short side yourself in heavy rough. So I think they have made use of Tiger to get the game more realistic and authentic. I notice the changes are more in line with what we write, and not what the TGC Tours players have written; I have not read anything about having shorter shots on red fast from TGC Tours, but left/right deviation - which has not been changed at all.

Yes the ball doesn't bite and check up a like before on splash from heavy rough, rolls on a little bit.

A new server side update came around mid night ECT. Is it that you are talking about?

Was wondering after my +13 start whether I was playing the same game as you blokes. The new bad tempo fluff in greenside bunkers was a surprise and cost me a good half dozen shots all up. How are all the other mouse users going with that one? Anyway, +32 overall and the new gameplay has me thinking whether trying a controller might be a better was of playing. My mouse tempo is rubbish, even with more forgiving clubs. Cheers

Played 54 holes so far and chipping and pitching has been ok (probably hit them well enough), but the longer shots makes me think twice. The yardage for the club I now see as max if I hit it flush. Had two shots in the water and yesterday the water would not been in play even. I like it. And staying with my mouse.

Second Round in. Missed some really good chances to score well in those opening holes. Came back to bite me on the 8th with a three putt after being above the green with a chip shot. It's those mental mistakes that I've got to cut down on. Bounced back with a birdie on the next hole. As for the back nine...could not stop the bleeding. But good news, didn't cut the jugular parts so technically still in it with two to go. And from what I've heard a difficult R3 on tap. Time to regroup and get this new....new swing down for the final two rounds at Torrey. I will agree with SimChars1968 on some of the holes being a tad too dark. I get it when there are large trees and grandstands casting shadows on the greens. But I also had about 3 holes where it felt like an eclipse was over those holes. Waited a bit and the clouds cleared on some shots. It's a fine line for designers on getting the lighting that they want on their courses which I can see as well. Just my two cents as everyone is entitled to their own opinions .

So far with my recent experience, I can't use a lob wedge from a bunker. I have to switch to a SW to get out. It doesn't matter what tempo I have. Also, I can't use a LW from thick, green side rough, while chipping. I have to bump up to a SW. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I haven't noticed any problems with LW chips.Hit some bad LW bunker shots but some very good also.

My third round in +14. Man, those conditions are a bit too tough for me. Looking at the conditions in round 4 I thought I should score well. The front nine I played at even par again, but that back nine is killing me all week. Either I am too exhausted already or that back nine is way more difficult than the front nine. Either way, my score was +7. +31 for the tournament. Glad there is only one US open . Below the PC leaderboard at the moment.

I try to pitch and play out of bunkers as I did before to see if I need another approach. Have not noticed anything yet, but I think I have hit the shots pretty well. Can’t play with Shot Feedback on, it stresses me. The long game is where I have to change and play with a lot bigger margins, especially with long clubs. Have been in water hazards at least 3 times and did not think they were in play. It doesn’t take much to be well short. Putting has become a little more important. Again. Like it is on tour if I understand it correctly.

Here are my final scores for this week. If I am honest, didn't enjoy this week one bit, I know it's The US Open but this was too much. We have a number of new players recently joined and looking at some of the scores I don't think this will encourage them too much. Just my opinion but there you are.
