The ultra sim experience tour travels this week to Denmark and Aalborg to play the Made in Denmark at Himmerland Golf & Spa resort.
Himmerland Golf & Spa resort is northern Europe's largest golf resort with 45 holes and extensive practice facilities. There are three courses on the resort: the Backtee course, the Garia course, and the short pay&play Bette course. The Backtee course is 7400 yard long.
The first course; the New Course was laid out by Jan Sederholm and was ready in 1990. In 2011 started a huge restoration where the New Course was completely redesigned by Philip Spogárd and the new Backtee course was opened in 2013. One year later, this course was on the European tour for the Made in Denmark event. Hole 16 on the Backtee course made European Tour history in 2015. It played 79 yards making it the shortest hole in the European Tour history. This hole has become legendary on the European Tour - and it is named "Himmerland Hill".
The weather forecast for the week:
Wind Speed: Medium - Medium - Low - Low Wind Direction: North - East - Northeast - South Time of Day: Morning - Morning - Afternoon - Afternoon Weather: Light Cloud - Light Cloud - Clear - Clear Green Speed: default - default - default - default Green Firmness: Soft - Soft - Moderate - Moderate Terrain Firmness: Soft - Soft - Moderate - Moderate
We are playing the 2019 Made in Denmark routing of the Backtee course this week. The first hole is the 18th on Garia course. The 9th is played as a long par 4. The 13th is played as a par 4 and not par 5. And the 14th is played as a very short par 4.

Pretty happy with opening round -2, which included a rare eagle for me. Great course...was very hard for me to hit fairways (55%) and GIR (44%).

jeff and I played our first round live together on Himmerland. Very nice course! I did manage to have 4 lucky chip ins for birdie. Not sure what happened there.

Finished my first tourney here. I hit some really great shots and few terrible but was happy mostly. Really struggled putting missed a bunch of 10-15ft. E, -2,-3,-2 for -7. Not sure what to make of the score. It was a different challenge but it was fun.

Struggle street for me. Just the one bogey on the front, 3 birds on the back. 57% fairways, most of which would have been on the back 9, same with 55% greens. 100% short and medium putts helped.
-2, tied with Nina, three ahead of Freebird who must have detonated towards the end of his round. The forum-elusive ElectableMule6 is at -7. Looks like he’s found his mojo, or maybe stolen mine???
Great course. Wish I’d played a practice round on it.

One bogey, six birds. -7 after 2. Trailing Mr. Mule by 2. Caught him by 3 in R2 so can’t complain.

My short game has actually improved since I stopped using slow backswing! And I've been experimenting with trying to get a 95% swing to take some distance off, think I might get there soon. Also been trying to get slow downswing to move the ball left to right, but that's really hard for me. Fast downswing is something I've always done. Really hope you enjoy being here with us. We do think it's as "pure" as you can get on this game...

No follow cam took a little to get used to and started to like the surprise when the next shot loaded. It felt realistic. As far as the short game that was no different for me since I have always used partial shots. Typically I try for partial with fast downswings on flops andi can consistently hit them. The fast seems to add backspin to stop them sooner. Partial shots with driver I can do but I will need practice with irons since I never had the need to before. I struggled to get anything fast today but normally I can to that at will. Slows I can’t perform on purpose but get plenty by accident. All in all, I had fun playing. I tend to avoid or limit overuse of the loft box normally, I can’t stand the ball squirt it gives. I missed the fade/draw though. I’ll keep playing.

Always good to have another convert, hope you stick around, we're a super friendly bunch as well If you want some practice, look in the "extra tournaments" thread, I've recently added another society for people who wanted more USE rounds. It doesn't count towards the season, just a chance for more USE play...

Round 2 at Himmerland is complete. jeff had a much better round than I did this time. I spun my wheels the entire round. I couldn't get any putts to drop this round. I had 4 birdies and 4 bogeys to finish at Even par.

Wowee.
All gee’d up for a good round. Conditions are perfect. No one home, 2 hour window. 2 cans and about eleventy seven cones. Conditions. Are. Perfect.
Didn’t realise I had a 4w not a driver in my hand on one. Plonked it straight into the drink. Dropped before I realised, hit my next perfect and also in the water. Hit my 5th to 4m, missed the putt. Walked off with a 7.
The pause after the first hole on my stream was to write this and cool down.
Fuckingshitcuntwhorebitchmotherfucker. Shitfuck!!!
Anyway. My two shot deficit is now a 5 shot deficit, and I’ve got 17 holes to do something about it.
Lol. Nothing like shooting your self in the foot.
Edit - Birdied the next 3, then plonked another one in on 6. That’s a double and a triple, 3 birdies and a par that dead set hit the middle of the hole for birdie, but so fast it would’ve gone off the green. Hollywood golf up in here.
