Round 2 in the books, and followed up my solid first round with another really good round. Aside from the three putt bogey at #10, there were no mistakes. Made a bomb on #5 for birdie, and hit a fantastic fast/fast 2 iron to 6 feet on the par 5 with the split fairway. Missed the putt, but the 2 iron shot was worthy of mention. Really need to put a solid effort in there for round 3 to keep pace, but I am right where needed at the halfway mark.
-6 -5

I'm sulking because my 3rd round was a missed opportunity to put myself in contention for the top 5 and my 4th round was one of the best rounds I've played UP TO around the 13-14th and then it just crumpled to a depressing shit show. Those last few holes are bastards. I also have a busy weekend, so see y'all Sunday/Monday!

Third and fourth round played - and me and this course is not going to be friends. Fact is, I have never been good on old links courses. Some good on the third round, and even an eagle (two foot eagle putt!) - but then I missed a 4 footer for birdie, and hit water on a par 5 making it a double bogey. Fourth round was very similar to the second. +3 and +2 for the rounds, ended on a +6 total.

That was my second shot out of that bunker. You gave me a damn flashback - now Iโve got the PTSDโs lol.

Have watched you being so cool and collected for many rounds, so gave me hope! ๐

Contemplating giving up the game as round 4 was totally unplayable for me. Actually was playing really well and another fucking disconnect when I holed a nice birdie putt and missed the 2nd attempt at the putt I already holed, then an approach to 3 foot and another disconnect straight after, re attempt 15 foot missed, you just feel robbed. I have to suffer this so much and believe me it normally disconnects when you're playing well , 3 disconnects in round 4. Ruined my temperament and enjoyment of the game, so fed up of it because never ever get disconnects playing live with people. Played so well on the back 9 of round 3 no disconnects and got in the groove , 4 straight birdies and 2 lip outs after.

I saved my worst tournament for The Open. I was playing fantastic in R1. I worked my way to -6, then the wheels fell off. I ended R1 at Even par. Just could not recover from that. Those turtle back greens were the death of me lol. Oh well, no where to go but ONWARD!

I have never had any disconnect, so I don't know what the problem is. That 4th round was a disaster and I know you will come back and beat me several times, and I completely understand that you need to vent off some after that (take a pint with @sirwade! ).

Paul, I felt exactly the same way after the tournament! I had to wait a couple of days just to post my miserable score. I wanted to give it up as well. I just love the game too much, so I gave myself a cooling off period and a few glasses of Single Malt Scotch lol. It just hurts when you know you can do so much better and you lay down a blob! I have seen members of the PGA do the same thing, just collapse, but they come back the next week and play better! Hang in there Paul. I'm sure your score was much better than mine! ๐ป

Guys, I'm REALLY sorry if my settings for the final day have depressed everyone! I thought I was the only one, then have just read through this thread.
I think it was a perfect storm of the following- the pins towards the end of rnd4 are BRUTAL! Near the edges of the green, and on mounds. They're not "illegal" but they're close!
I tested round 1 and 2 on tough conditions, high and very high winds and fast and very fast greens, and they were tough, but ok.
I think very high wind, with very fast and firm greens, with rnd4 pins was just too much. Tough to ranger every possible condition with every pin.
I was going great guns on round 4, -1 after like 10-11 holes, was SO happy with my concentration and sensible play, then missed a short birdie putt on the final par 5 to take me back to -1, and then a shit show from them on. The final stretch goes a bit silly.
I wonder if that final stretch on pinset 4 would've been really tough with ANY conditions, but the very firm greens defo didn't help!
Once again, sorry, and let's have a calmer and easier week next week!

I think the problem is that I got totally wound up by it Anders. I certainly can't play this game when I'm angry. The two disconnects in round 4 were straight after a great birdie putt and an approach to 3 foot. So 2 birdies robbed from me. I was playing really well up to that point. I found I played way too fast for the remainder of the round and kinda just finished it for the sake of it. I play the game over a powerline as it is awkward running a ethernet cable up to the room my PC is in. I know they can be a problem with drop outs. Does anyone here play the game over a Wi-Fi connection? as I might have to buy a Wi-Fi card for the PC.

I think the only problem Leon is very fast greens in round 4.Links courses don't have really fast greens as the ball would be blown off the greens in really high winds.
