Our next USE event brings us to New South Wales, Australia. Golf Digest currently ranks the NSW Golf Club as the No. 9 golf course outside the United States and the No.1 golf course outside the United States and the UK. "La Perouse", as the course is often known, is set amongst scrub covered sand hills and valleys that slope down to the Pacific Ocean at secluded Cruwee Bay. This inspiring layout is bounded by water on three sides and has many of the characteristics of true links golf. Occasionally benign and at the mercy of the "young guns", this sleeping giant, with its undulating fairways and small greens, calls for great skill in shot making when the sea breezes blow. It has been written that golf had its origins on unique seascapes similar to this one, where the wind is a dominating factor and the direction from which it blows making any of the eighteen holes comparatively easy or extremely difficult.

Off and away for R1 at New South Wales. Getting my rounds in early before leaving for a work trip Sunday evening. Solid golf to start in these conditions. Misjudged wedge distance on the par 5 8th. Dancing shadows felt like a rave to my eyes and put too much pace on the chip. Ended up with bogey there. Had the Twitch stream going. But for some reason, was getting a bit of lag. Probably needed a PC restart but didn't want to stop the round. -4 thru most of the back nine. Played an unintentional Phil Mickelson flop shot with a 6 iron that I thought would clear the mound on top of the bunker. Proceeded to see the ball go over my head...backwards and into the bunker behind me Should've just took my medicine after those shots and settled for at least a bogey. Gave a few away around the green on the last. Such is golf.

Those high winds gave me many problems. I could not hit any greens. My chipping saved me a couple of times, but also couldn’t save my score of +8 in R1. I certainly hope that the wind will lie down in the coming days;-).

As a favour I let another admin do it as they will be away in the coming weeks, not mentioning any names ahem

Second Round in. Not sure what it is but Twitch stream hasn't been acting nice with this course. Before the round changed back to the Titleist 9 degree 284 driver. Fairly decent chances, just couldn't get the putts on the right lines. Nice finishing stretch with back to back chip ins on 17 and 18. Definitely some low scores out there to be had this week. -8 at the halfway mark.

You get more forgiveness and only loose 2 yards! 👍🍺🍺🍺🏌️♂️⛳

Not sure if it was due to the added roll one would get from a lower lofted driver. That would make sense. But it could've been that my swing line lately has looked like Jim Furyk's swing and added on grey fast when I'm on the range. Results in push draw which looks straight. It made Mike switch to the OG bazooka Bridgestone though

Third Round in. Lots of circles on the scorecard here. Need to sharpen up the pitch shot as I've been chunking a few which led to a miscue or two. Just IRL, don't keep an aspect of the game in form, it'll get you on the course. Like in my other post, think there will be a 59 watch on tap for players here that can keep it in the fairways and stay patient. Onto the Final Round...

Final Round in. Good start on the first. But putter wasn't on this round. Under read mostly everything. Missed the comebacker on the par 5 8th. Can't have bogeys on par 5s especially on this track as they are all reachable depending on wind. Eagle on 12 and really wanted that one on the last hole. But really didn't give it a chance. Finished at -20. Enjoy the Aussie cooking and crowds in your home country Tuffguts. Good luck to everyone this week! ⛳👍🍺

Shot my first round with Wade as a ghost partner. Definitely had to slow down and think my shots through to keep up with him. Kind of went off the rails on 17/18 but ended the round +3 (75).

Round 1 in very high winds and paired up our new friend charles56 . I knew he rather chips than pitches, so expected to see some educational chipping. And I didn't have to wait long! An 8 iron chip out of the trees on the 1st to 2 feet! Later saw a good 5 iron chip, a 7 iron chip etc. It inspired me to a 9 iron chip to 3 feet somewhere. I played very well, even a stroke better than @pakalolo77 ! But a couple of really annoying bogies coming in left a sting. Hit a drive into a hillside, got the approach to 15 feet only to 3 putt... Made another I no longer remember how. Hit the tee shot on the par 3 17th to the right side of the green and was satisfied with that, but it managed to slowly roll off the green and down, way down. A 27 feet, 6 feet uphill pitch out of the heavy rough and a putt saved par, but that was scary. Looking forward to less windy conditions.

After watching Matt Jones take out the Honda Classic in the winds, I was hoping for some similar form at La Perouse. Just played the second of my TST rounds and what a load of garbage....was hoping to at least beat par in USE. Rd1; -4 on the front 9, parred both par 5's. Highlight on back 9 was a big right to left short iron with the wind on 16 that went in.....bit of home country luck. I must say, the replays are crap in 2k21. I can't get the right camera angle for some reason. The replays I recorded didn't do it justice. Left an eagle putt in the jaws on 18 after a hugely lucky ricochet bounce out of the bunkers with the driver approach. Ended Rd1 at -9....same as Jonesey in Rd1 at the Honda....but I pipped him by 9 shots in Rd2 with another bogey free -9 to be -18 at the cut. Slower greens worked for me. No chip ins but sunk a few bomb putts....40 footer in Rd1 was the longest. Will knock out Rd's 3 and 4 tomorrow night. Cheers
