Matchplay requires a commitment from everyone to post scorecards. Better ball and combined scores for foursome (alt shot). I am a huge fan of the Ryder Cup, my favourite sporting event. I book that Friday off work way in advance and watch every minute of it on TV 😊. World Cup of golf has a team strokeplay system that would work well here we need to match up handicap skills to make it competitive. Talking of handicap, the handicap leaderboard will be back next week as we have now played 5 events on the new PC society. I friggin love the Ryder cup. I don't watch a huge amount of golf, but the Ryder cup and masters are ones I REALLY try to watch all of. Also if I can, the UK and US open. It's a commitment, on weekends, when the wife is ALREADY very understanding of my obsession with Liverpool FC and watching all the raptors games (82 games a season!) I managed to watch every single bit of the last Ryder cup, loved it. Shame it wasn't a classic, but it was still very enjoyable. I watched a lot of medinah, including pretty much all of the final day, and that was just absolutely epic. Rose's mammoth putt and Mickelson clapping, great stuff. I don't know how far you go back watching the Ryder Cup Leon, but I remember some fantastic matches at this weeks course. Faldo's hole in one, Paul 'West Ham fan' McGinley's fantastic winning putt. The Belfry is just an iconic Ryder Cup course and I really hope it hosts it again. Just enjoy this course so much in this game and played really well nice 19 foot birdie at 2 followed by a birdie 4 on 3. Really nice 29 foot birdie putt on 4. Putter was good but then just missed so many makeable putts by a whisker, really happy with my solid play and enjoyed the round with ray and andersnm

I think my hole 12 summed up the difference between using the loft box and being prohibited from using it. I was way between clubs on the tee and a 95% 2 iron just didn't come off and my ball was wet ended up hitting a 90%, that's the fine line between a bad shot and a great shot and risk and reward. I dropped and tried a partial pitch that came up short and my ball was wet again. Ended up holing a tough left to right breaking 11 footer for a triple bogey 6. Apart from that and somehow missing a 4 foot par putt on 17 I played really well.Though I had 2 partial 95% shots that led to birdies.

The double bogey on the easiest hole on the course was my favourite. Heading in for R2 now. Decided against eye of the Tiger here, if you use it too often it loses its power. Got Eddie Murphy in my ear for this one.. youtu.be/-Jm-_5CjY34

Heaps better R2 for me, apart from the 4 or 5 putts inside 4 feet I missed. Found a bit of a cheat, you guys probably already know it - Apparently if you hit the fairway it makes your second shot heaps easier than if you pull-hook it into the cabbage 👌🏻
Internet booted me just after I’d holed out on 18 so may need to make a 2 footer when it comes back up. The internet is probably on fire down here now as well lol.
I also love the Ryder Cup. The older I get the more I’m a monarchist and really love that Australia is part of something bigger than just ourselves. Being a little anti-Murican helps as well. (Not the people, the country’s role in International affairs since way before the current 🤡).
The presidents cup is lame. We don’t have an affinity with our teammates at all. The only way I could get behind an international team properly would be if it were against Europe every second event. Right now it’s you V them, or us V them, so it’s easy to jump on the Europe bandwagon when it’s not us.
Edit - Did have to re-putt the 3ft downhill right to left-er. Sweating bullets but made it. -1, +2 for the event. Birdie conversion of 13%, putt accuracy - med went from 75% in R1, to 20% in R2.

8 back on Paul, but he’s gonna fold like a lawn chair and shoot 94 in R3 so it’s pretty much between me at +2 thru 36 V Anders at +3, and UncleVirt (if he even IS an uncle) at -11.

Eagled the first in R3. Holed a shot from the fairway bunker out of about a 60% lie. Tripled 18, so I guess it kinda evened out. Was -4 for the round on the 18th tee, finished -1.
Lots to do in R4

Round #3 in the books, and aside from two terrible bogies due to getting greedy and not executing properly it was a good round and keeps me within striking distance of gavlaar124. I was really helped out by three eagles where I did manage to execute. I'm sure others may have something to say in the final outcome, but I am going after Gav as that is the score that is currently ahead of me to chase on PS4. -5 seems doable in the final round, but rumor has it those conditions are brutal and the #17th and #18th still haven't fallen off the face of the Earth. -5 -7 -8

I’m itching to have a hit, but can’t get on the PC right now.
I’m assuming it’s ok for me to play the XB society event so long as I don’t go past the end of R3 where I am on PC. I doubt I’ll get past the first round tonite anyway. My PC score will obviously be my official score, just playing XB for practice/fun.

-3, -3, Ev, +1 = -5 total Every time I was right on the club number, fast f**king swing....in between clubs...could not deliberately hit a fast swing to save my life = 30-40 foot from the hole. I'm def not one to routinely attempt 90-95% shots. Successful maybe 1/10. It's 100% or bust (except lobs and chips). Could read the greens in a general sense but plenty of hole shaving going on..... Whinge out of the way for me.....

R1 was okay. Three birdies and only one dropped shot on 9. Low scores are out there if you stay out of trouble. I just didn't convert on my realistic birdie chances. I haven't played more than 2 rounds since before Christmas, so this tournament is a back-in-the-saddle thing for me. Practiced with a friend in R2 conditions and finished -4. Again with only one dropped shot. Will probably not get close to that in my actual R2. How's that for negative thinking? I'm focusing on not dropping shots rather than trying to score on every hole. I figure the birdies will come in time. Or not. Joke of the day: "What's the difference between a rock guitarist and a jazz guitarist?" "A rock guitarist plays 3 chords in front of a thousand people. A jazz guitarist plays a thousand chords in front of 3 people."

I want to know who y'all bribed to get Whistling Straits chosen as the next venue for the Ryder Cup. How in anyone's mind could that course possibly be a home-field advantage for the US?? We have a team loaded with guys who hit the ball a country mile but couldn't hit a fairway if it had 6-foot fences on either side of it. Bomb a drive somewhere, hunt for the ball, play a wedge out of very forgiving rough, tap in for birdie. That's what we do best. How the heck is Whistling Straits gonna accommodate that strategy??

We couldn’t have set up the Presidents cup course more to suit us, and you guys still found a way. It’ll be a cracker of an event.

As a fan of great Jazz guitarists such as Mike Stern who I saw with top Jazz fusion drummer Dave Wekl last summer at Ronnie Scott's London, I totally dig that joke Jeff

Hated the way Hazeltine was set up in 2016, the tournament was basically a putting competition. A tournament like the Ryder Cup should be a challenge to the top players in the game, Le Golf National proved a real challenge that was worthy of a top golf competition . Whistling straights is a great course, I am really looking forward to it
