Just played a round with pro swing difficulty. Tbh I really don't like it, way too easy to hit the ball straight for my liking felt more like pro difficulty from TGC2019 than master TGC2019 to me, speed golfed Oakmont in strong wind and on easier greens -1 with about 5 under 20 foot 3 putts as I was rushing. The difference in difficulty from master to pro is huge imo, personally I think I would lose interest quickly playing that difficulty. It's funny because I'm losing interest on master difficulty. I really don't like playing from rough to rough to more rough (as john would say). Maybe it's just not my cup of tee anymore. I don't want to be the guy that is throwing a wrench in everyone's else's fun. I don't hear anything from the other guys in the society. I guess they are happy with the high scores. I really wish there was a difficulty in-between Pro and Master. The only thing I can do at this point is try the shorter clubs and see if that helps my game. The downfall to that is long courses and high winds.

I have never tried Pro in TGC 2019, but I do not agree with Paul on this; I find Pro difficulty in 2k21 to be a bit harder than Master in TGC 2019. And -1 on Oakmont is not unrealistic low score.
The only way to know what scores and stats we would get - is to play some tournaments on Pro difficulty. All else is speculation. And we only have the difficulties that are in the game - we can wish for more or sliders, but that will not be. It is either way much better than TGC 2019.

Considering I speed golfed one of the toughest courses in the world and still hit 1 under with 5 three putts which were under 20 foot. I can only go by my own experience Anders but it is much easier to hit it straight than TGC2019, I never once hit outside the grey tempo box, no shot deviated left or right more than 7 yards. It just doesn't feel like golf where master swing difficulty does to me, hitting a straight drive with pro difficulty is just way too easy from my experience. I just really don't like it truthfully, I prefer TGC2019 masters to pro in this game.

It is some time since I have played on pro difficulty (career mode), and I practice on Legend. I missed one fairway in light rough - and I missed four greens on the par 3's due to wrong distance (bunker), but all shots was unrealistic straight. Very straight. Not once was I afraid of a drive. So while I agree that we most likely will get TGC 2019 Master stats when it comes to Fairway% and GIR%, I find the game more challenging with our guidelines. What I would like, is to have Pro difficulty on short irons and wedges - and Master on everything else (that includes Pro difficulty on pitching, the problem with heavy rough is in my opinion not solved with a general difficulty on pitching).

I find that boring and would much rather play a game where it is a big achievement to break par even if it is extremely tough. Regarding the shorter clubs Anders it is not hard if you use the forgiving shorter distance clubs, they feel more realistic difficulty wise than the short game with pro difficulty from my testing.

I was laser straight on Master in TGC 2019 as well (once I got a good controller and not the shabby 360). Very rare to miss tempo in TGC 2019. So in TGC 2019, misses was due to swingline, not tempo. Paul - I refer to the stats we have in USE - our GIR% are quite low. I watch alot of PGA golf - and the pro's are extremely accurate with their wedges and short irons. So to me, the Pro difficulty accuracy with those shots is more realistic, because it is distance control, not left-right deviation we see from the pro's. On longer shots however, I totaly agree with you - from lets say 7 iron and upwards - it is much more realistic feel with master difficulty. On my first round on Augusta - I got 57% Fairway, which is as I expect. But I have 55% GIR. That do not make sense.

Regarding difficulty, it seems everyone is shooting very low on TST, does that splash shot and no marker really make that much difference?. One stat that is much more realistic than TGC2019 in this game now is medium putt percentage.The hole mechanic have really improved. I just had a quick look at the TST stats for PC: Fairway% is in the 70-85%, GIR 60-88% The accuracy here is much better - and the only thing they have that we don't, is the aiming marker. You get help from the marker in order to aim off the tee. But, as for us - Fairway% is higher than GIR% - which is totaly backwards compared to real life stats. Putts per hole is in general a bit better, 1,49 at the top. Scrambling is key though, we are seeing Rob with 87%, top guy at 90% - and here is the splash a big part.

My view is based on the stats;
We are getting Tour long game stats with Masters setting but not short game stats, therefore if it’s our goal to replicate tour stats we must make scrambling easier, I.e. splash shot, chipping from bunkers (which I never do anyway on TGCT anyway) to see how it effects scoring and stats. The issue there is that this goes against our ethos.
The other option is to try Pro which I feel is too easy, perhaps we could have a Pro tour for those who want it? Would need more admin work though.
Personally I think having open short game rules is the way to go to see how it effects our stats for the next event, we could then also have a pro swing event and then have a poll after that?

How about just banning the LW splash shot including out of bunkers as I believe that is a major cause of lower scores and unrealistic scrambling in TST. As mcbogga has previously mentioned the SW splash has more realistic spin mechanics especially out of heavy rough. This also will bring in more partial shots which require more skill and timing as we then don't have perfect distances for splash from 15 yards up.

I think the market makes a huge difference as it allows you to set “intent” which makes pitching and every other short shot super easy as it’s just a case of swing timing to dial it in, the PGA guys like Rob and Sloan do this very well. It It’s very hard to do this without the marker as you’re guessing from the backswing speed as to where the invisible marker is. I think we should make next event “open” on short shot selection and see how the stats and scores stack up, no harm in experimenting. I personally think it would save me 1 shot, possibly 2 a round but that’s because I understand the pitching intent very well and how to manage it without the marker

Not banning another shot but allowing SW splash upwards. The stats of TST scrambling are too high and their scores are too low. No marker is not going to make a huge difference. I know Phil Mickelson advocates explosive bunker shots with less loft in order to expand the distance you can do that. But this is bunker shots - not from grass. I would be happy to see any video from a pro hitting explosive splash shot from grass with an 8 iron. The problem here - is that no matter what we do, I think we end up with unrealistic stats. Question becomes what experience we want. Why do we get so low scrambling stat? We need to look at our putting stats also in relation to scrambling - since we putt worse, scrambling will also be worse. We do not sink as many 5-8 footers, so those becomes bogeys. If you get up and down 3 times more in a round, the scrambling stat would suddenly be realistic and right on point with real life. So I am quite satisfied with our scrambling stats. As I said - the best solution in my opinion, would be Master swing difficulty on the long game, and Pro difficulty on the short (even better would be a gradual increase in accuracy with more loft, so a 7 iron is little bit easier than a 6 iron etc - but I would be surprised big time if that is patched this time). That is unfortunately not possible - so either we get unrealistic driving stat (and thus probably a bit too good GIR%) with Pro difficulty, or we are left with unrealistic bad GIR% - and the need for unrealistic gameplay in order to get unrealistic scrambling to get realistic scores. The latter is not good for my experience with the game - and for me, that is using unrealistic game mechanics in order to score as low as possible and is the opposite of what we try to do here.

It would work so nice if HB/2K would give us the ability to change difficulty by clubs. Example Master for Woods, Master for Irons and Pro for Wedges. We could dial everything in so much better. Does anyone know HB Craig well enough to put in a request lol. I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to do on their part.

Wedges are much more forgiving with the shorter more forgiving clubs and feel realistic to me. With pro swing difficulty they just feel arrow straight and too easy to hit with any type of shot. I think the distance wedges are too unforgiving and that's why I don't use them.
