Next up on the USE schedule, we head to Carmel, Indiana. For the BMW Invitational at Crooked Stick Golf Club. Crooked Stick Golf Club, built in 1964 by the famous course designers and builders Pete and Alice Dye, was host to the PGA Championship in 1991 won by John Daly and the U.S. Women’s Open in 1993, won by Lauri Merten. It also hosted the Solheim Cup matches in 2005. Crooked Stick also hosted the 2012 BMW Championship, won by Rory McIlroy, and hosted the tournament again in 2016, where Dustin Johnson won with a record-breaking -23. For many years it has been noted as one of the top 100 courses in the U.S. by Golfweek and Golf Magazine, two of golf's most popular magazines. ”Life is not fair, why should I create a golf course that is fair” - Pete Dye 16th Hole photo credit - Golf Digest

Started the first round very good - and total much better play for me compared to last week - but I still get 28% fairway and 33% GIR this round - so there are the stats I need to improve in order to score.

I’ve only done half of a practice round so far on Crooked Stick.
I tried something different this week. I turned on green grids and scout cam for my practice round. Before my approach on each hole, I positioned the scout cam directly overhead the green so I could see the whole complex and the grid lines. Then I took a screenshot.
My plan was to have those screenshots available during my rounds to make up for the lack of info in the yardage book.
I got to the 6th hole before I realized I just can’t be bothered. My approaches are lucky to hit the green at all, never mind a particular area of the green. The time investment is just not worth the info gained.
But if you have the time and can hit the green more often than I can, this may be a useful tool.

Some assistance please. I'm on PC and have turned off follow cam before teeing off but I'm still getting it. Shut down game and re-started...follow cam still off but I still get it on all shots. Anyone else had issues with this? Sorry, I've only just picked up the game and still working a few things out. Rob gave me the tip to shut down and re-start if you change any settings but doesn't appear to be working this time. Cheers

Cheers Just worked out as soon as I hit space bar to speed up ball flight, it automatically goes into follow cam mode. Looks like no more 20 minute USE rounds for me....grrrrrrrr. Anyway, took me 5 holes to work it out which were all bogies. Hole 6....par. I'll keep playing but any penalties that need applying, please add to my score...which is going to be a cricket score at this rate. Cheers

Then the bug where pressing Y doesn't work on putting camera when I reinstalled the last game and turn order doesn't stay on. Maybe a reinstall is needed. Is there a way to reinstall without having to recreate your golfer?

Well Rd2 took me 24 mins so not as bad as I was dreading. Was -2 going into 18 and a slight fade into the water for a double. Had really good tempo 90% of the round. Missed a heap of short putts. Long putts I'm now leaving short. Chipped well...had 1 chip in for bird. So +4 after 2 rounds. Tough going. Cheers

On XB - the D-pad toggles the different cam views - down on D-Pad associates cam to behind golfer..
So rather than trying to remember to turn it off everytime for USE - I just hit the ball and then immediately press d-pad down to insure I have the behind golfer view until the shot ends.
I may get a quick follow view after initial strike before switching quickly back to behind golfer, but in-air ball flight doesn't make a difference - its the landing and roll that the no follow cam is meant for so you don't get any additional reads on how the ball rolls out..
If this is in any way a 'breach' of the rules - please let me know..

huh.
I had noticed that when I hit the speed up button it goes to follow cam. But I rarely hit that button unless its a very slow roller, so I had just thought it was me hitting the wrong button or something!
My R1 was a complete disaster. Between the water and my putting woes. Seriously. I took an 11 and a 10 on two holes, and was on green in reg, I think.

Card for the first round, was absolutely horrible, didn't enjoy that one jot. Tempo all over the place.

Played really well but for the 9th, shaky start with 2 bogies but got it together. I feel Like I can really putt well in this game, my distance control is great but I seem to be fighting the backstroke and forward stroke, the push and pull. Hole 9 a lovely approach to 29 foot. Great eagle attempt that was close but 3 foot past the cup. Managed to completely screw up a 3 footer for birdie and a 3 footer for par . Rest of the round was good ball striking some close missed birdie putts and a few bogies but good ball striking. Highlights , the 8th hole the wind didn't touch my approach left me a 52 footer for birdie that felt great when it dropped. Hole 15 a great approach on the par 5 to 10 foot and a really nice breaking putt holed for eagle.

Round 1 was really bad. Couldn't find any tempo. Came back next day and played pretty well in round 2 with 2 really bad holes costing my triple bogeys on each. Without those 2 mistake holes, I would have reached Par.
Round 1 +12 Round 2 +5
