Decent 27 holes last practice, then fell apart on the closing 9. A lot of positives to take away from it...

Well, shot two totally different rounds at the USE Exhibition 6 today... 79 & 69 for a total of +4 at the Cabot Cliffs. First round was a struggle, wasn't thinking clearly where to land the ball (links style), and I was just all over the place in general. I took so many three-putts.. Couldn't stop the bogey train at some point, still managed to get few birdies and save pars with great putts. Second round was fireworks for me, got two eagles with driving two of the drivable par 4's over the water! A big deliberate hook at the first one that somehow trickled right next to the pin, and a 3w at the second par 4 that turns to the right, ball 3m from the hole Generous hole locations surely helped in the second round. Still made some bogeys but got some great birdies to counter that. The hardest part for me is definitely getting up & down with pitch / chip shot after missing the green (while not using splash shot). Sometimes the chip shot isn't a viable option due to elevated green or some other reason, and the full pitch & flop shot are twice as long as the shot shoud be. I feel the tempo is so different with full vs partial shots you really have to spend more time to get the timing right. Have to go to the range and just keep practicing I guess I also still found myself pressing the follow-cam right after a tee shot automatically, many years of playing TW that will do that... (I've always kept it off by default but pressed the button manually after the shot). It happened several times during these rounds. Still switched the camera back when I realized it and tried to keep it like that. I've now played career mode and local matches with full TST rules and I think it's slowly going into my muscle memory.

Couldn’t adjust quick enough to the green speed and left my birdie opportunities just short of the hole. Been really practicing my pitch shots on the practice green and had the perfect 30 yarder up the hill which would’ve been a PW on the 18th to get up and down for birdie. But played the safe shot with a LW and left it quite a bit short. Just gotta trust it next time. 4 birdies and 4 bogeys put me at E after the first at Cabot Cliffs.
Really looking forward to the season opener Sunday 👍

Solid front nine and a complete shambles of a back nine at Cabot. R2 will be for practice only since I can’t see anyone else on the leaderboard without a telescope.

Love that course but greens are tough! Struggled on the greens but I think (touch wood) that I’ve got the long game nailed. If anyone is really struggling then drop me a DM or I can post some of my personal findings from trial and error, not guaranteeing it’ll work for anyone else but I’m shooting some low numbers now on the TGCT rules and I’m getting regular under pars with USE rules

I am just rubbish on links courses. No exception here.

Played rubbish myself but pulled off about 8 great up and downs with the pitch shot in the 2 rounds. I few things I have learned from the shot, LW pitch is actually a really good shot from 14 to 20 yards, club up to SW for 20 to 30 yards, GW from 30 to 40 yards, so much easier on the partials to club up rather than stick with the LW. Shorter forgiving wedges.

It is more in the 80% region out of heavy rough. Really worth practicing these distances. 90 to 95 percent partial is a no go it's to difficult to gauge.

Until I get used to pitch shot percentage I will keep the swing feedback on.

Solid front nine and a complete shambles of a back nine at Cabot. R2 will be for practice only since I can’t see anyone else on the leaderboard without a telescope. Which clubs are you using Jeff? The longer ones or shorter ones? I’ve got the Taylor Made woods and hybrids which are shorter and more forgiving. D carries 267, 3W carries 241 and 4H goes 213. Callaway irons 4I-9I at 10-ish yard intervals between 186 yds and 140 yds. Either Wilson or TM wedges 124 yds to 88 yds. I’m making a lot of one and two foot par putts, but attempting too many 10 - 20 foot par putts after missing the green. I’m at about 65%-75% FIR and 55%-65% GIR. Long game mostly okay, except there’s always two or three holes where I get a F__k-off Slow or Fast that almost always results in a double or triple that destroys my round because I’m not scoring birdies at all at this point.

Also, are you guys deliberately slowing your backswings anywhere using intent? I’ve tried doing it and not doing it, but I’ve not found a method that feels right yet.
