I just played a practice round on West Hills! I loved this course last game and love it more in 2k21. I however am struggling with this game for some reason. I shot +9 in my practice round and +15 in R1 and +9 in R2 for a total of +24. Seems very hard to hit a fairway so I need to practice the 95% more. My putting is sporadic. Some holes it is fine and others I'm way short or way long. I am using hammers1man full putting camera advice and it has helped some. I'm just having a hard time getting a feel for this game. I can't get an approach shot close unless it's with a wedge. I'm almost at the point where I may have to sit season 3 out. Still going to keep grinding for now though. I changed my avatar to reflect my on course performances. Even though IRL I'm very mild mannered on the golf course lol.

(+15 for the round). So Wade, no reason to sit out anything. We all will struggle in the start - and the only way to get better is to play, so why not play and struggle in USE as well?

Yes this game does have a steep learning curve, that's why I think it's important to give playing tips to eachother to help improve everybodies game. Still early day though and my best round is still E at Lofoten Links.

Rather than worry too much about score keep an eye on your USE 18 hole average score in the stats. Try working on lowering it, like real life we want to lower our handicaps. Believe me most of us will have a + before our average score. I will start up a USE handicap leaderboard again this season after a few weeks into it.

Agreed that this game is challenging and at times very frustrating from one round to the next. But like real golf it just take that one shot to keep you coming back. For me, the swing tips on 95% and partials has helped me figure out a tempo that works for me. Took a lot of time on the range but bringing it to the course was another thing. When I’m able to dial it in my FIR and GIR are around 50%. A lot better than 13-30% prior and if I’m off still hit those numbers per round.
Course management plays a lot more compared to 2019. Missing it in the right spots, makes up and downs easier. I am scrambling, a lot. Luckily my putting has saved me a lot of strokes. Probably the most solid part of my game. Irons and pitch shots not as much, slowly getting there. Enjoying the time spent practicing different aspects of the game.

(best scores so far are at ca +2 for one round). Which means, we all need practice

Here’s a good course to practice irons (GIRs) and short game. Sefton Golf Course RCR v1 in Sydney, Australia. Par 3 course. Four tees so you can practice different yardages varying from 90 to 220. Designer did a great job on this one imo.

Crazy 2nd round a triple, 4 doubles, 2 bogies and 5 birdies, played some great shots played some loose shots, still had a great time. Played the great 18th perfectly hit a lovely 323 yard drive down the right, perfectly hit 8 iron to 12 foot past the pin. Hit the putt perfectly allowing for the right to left break but half an inch short of pace.

I missed 2 four-foot putts and a bunch of 8-10 footers. I had 4 birdie putts lip out or peek into the hole on the way past the edge, leaving me with par putts under a foot. My stats for R1 were 65% FIR and 50% GIR. Scrambling was 33%. My short putts were 92%, medium 20% and long 10%. Not exactly PGA numbers, eh? 😀😀 We will all (most of us anyway) struggle for a while. Let’s do it together.

This is spot on, I’m aiming at the middle of greens and looking at which side I can miss the fairway on plus my short game is really sharp and I’ve been putting well, it can come and go very quickly! Yesterday I was shooting under par but today easily over par! Can’t hit it today. Love it!

They put it there in club champs

Well that 2nd Round didn't start too well, but really chuffed with how I held it together after the 7th. Well impressed with how they have captured the different facets of the game is this version, there granularity with every shot you play, really is very addictive! This is the nearest I have seen computer golf get to the real game, loving it.
