As for the clubs I have chosen - I have chosen them mostly because of looks and okay carry distance, shot shaping. I have played with the long Bridgestone driver - but just now changed to Taylormade Sim driver that has a better look for me. I don't care much about the 7 yard loss in carry, but I do not see much difference in forgiveness. I also choose the realistic loft for me - 9 degree. Taylormade Sim fairway woods, 3 and 5. Wilson Staff Model irons 4-9, and wedges 46, 50, 54 and 60 degree. I am hitting the Sim driver but the Bridgestone felt better, my real bag is is all Taylor Made apart from a Mizuno LW and and Odyssey putter

On a brighter note, I really hope you all enjoy West Hill in the practice event this week, it’s been a labour of love getting this course on the game and a place I hold very highly in architecture and design. In total I’ve spent more than 200 hours on it so I hope it plays well for all of you this week! Local knowledge helped me out of the gates and I could have had a really insane round but for a couple of three whacks which left me on -5 for rd1, mixed lots of birdies with errors in rd2 but followed up with a -1 to finish on -6 for the event. Very happy to get through 36 holes without exceeding the stroke limit! I slowed the greens up a bit this week but it’ll be a different course if I turn them up in the “tournament” version I release later Can definitely tell that you spent a lot of time on the finer details on this track paddy! Fantastic! Made the change to Callaway with the complete bag after playing Ben Hogan’s from day 1. Just wasn’t hitting enough fairways and greens to score well. Was always scrambling for par. Plus maybe I needed something different to look at while playing to change it up. Driver 288, 3 wood 241, 3 hybrid 224, 4 hybrid 215, 5 iron to 9 iron 192 to 153, PW 136, GW 126, SW 112, LW 98. Interesting to see the different combos that other are playing with to fill in gaps. First Round at West Hills just now. Those first three opening holes if you are in the wrong spots have bogey or worse written all over it, at least for me with my practice rounds. +3 thru 3 holes and was searching for something to steady the ship. Birdied the par 5 5th, bogey on 7 but made a clutch birdie on 9 for +1 at the turn. Came up to the driveable par 4 12th. Needed a partial driver and from the tee box it was tracking right at it. Waited a long time waiting for it to roll out but couldn’t see it till it was rolling somewhere on the green. Go up to putt and it’s seven feet from the hole and make that for eagle! That’s USE for ya. Two birdies and a bogey the rest of the way to finish the round at -2. Here’s the best part was thinking to save that replay at the end of the round as I didn’t want to stop the momentum from that hole but at the end I accidentally hit advance and never got to watch how the ball ended up on that par 4 lol Great round with that -6 paddy. Again really enjoying the different feel of these UK tracks in this game. Top notch stuff! Great round, glad you enjoyed it! The 12th is such a Jekyll and Hyde hole depending on pin position - locals say if it's on the top shelf, lay up for a full wedge and if it's on the front, let rip. I was also lucky enough to snatch an eagle there too but mine was easier as it was just a full driver with my game improvement Bridgestone! Thanks for the kind words about the course, I'm just planting West Hill's neighbour, Worplesdon which is part of the "3 W's" (Woking being the other), all three of these courses are within a mile of one another and are all in the UK's top 100, will hopefully have all 3 in the game before long

Really love this course, looks stunning in 21:9, will take some pictures tomorrow in my second round. Will definitely play the real course in Surrey as it is pretty close to me, this just captured that English parkland course look perfectly. Played the first round with Josia and had a blast ,my driver was off a bit but hit some nice pitches, I holed a lot of 5,6,7 footers for par. My pitch shot is improving 15 to 25 yards, 30 to 40 yards are extremely tough with pitch shot. Josia's long game and longer putts were really solid, hit some great shots including an eagle chip. Josia you need to get on the putting green putt on auto mulligan and practise putting from 8 to 3 foot it killed you today mate. Use the the Full putting camera as it is much easier to judge the distance from this view. Short sided with a pitch shot, I don't think so Great chip in by josia for eagle

+5 on the first round for me. Was terrible with the putter on the first holes - so had a couple of three putts, for example on the 5th for par. Only one birdie on the driveable par 4.

I like a Taylormade putter, but it is locked for sponsor.. so I need to play some career to get it.. But, there is no Mizuno in the game Paul, so I think you got another LW

Made three birds in a row on the front nine, that was a first with Master clubs in any style of play for me.
Then promptly let the course win on the back nine in order not to hurt its feelings.....

Looks like the course is about holding its own anyway!
I’m sure the members of West Hill would be delighted if the course made its way onto the USE rota one day for the “Surrey Open”.
Even heard a rumour that there’s a tour version of the course being released with stands etc. And slightly quicker greens!

No aiming/putting marker? Is this going to be a society setting?

No aiming/putting marker? Is this going to be a society setting? Think so, pretty sure we’ve never had aiming marker in USE before

Thanks for all the playing tips, guys. And for the club advice.
I’ve got Taylor Made woods, Ben Hogan hybrids and Wilson irons. I’m trying to balance distance with forgiveness, but I sacrifice a lot of distance with my driver; it only carries 268. Jim Furyk distance, IOW. 😀
After 2 practice rounds, almost all of my stupidly wild misses have stopped. Now they’re just wild misses. 😛
Almost every shot feels like a partial now. On the bright side, maybe my short game will benefit.
I even had one hole where the game drew a circle around my score instead of one or two squares. Does anyone know what the circle means? I’ve never seen it before in 2k21. 😂😂

hammers1man I'm glad you played with me for the first round because the second was really bad. haha. What I've been talking to you about in the putting tips thread, it was really magnified last night. I just need to figure out those short putts I feel like, and the rest of my game is coming together.
I really liked the course itself, it was very nice and well done, and fun to play!
On the clubs, I have a question.
I have been playing with different attributes with my driver to see what I can hit best. First, my 3 wood was 220 something, and it made a big gap between that and my driver at 269. I never thought about seeing if I can hit a 248 one like you guys are talking about to decrease that distance gap.
But in the irons, and other clubs, my questions are this-
Is there any difference between the clubs that have exactly the same attributes? I noticed that although you have a bunch of choices of clubs, if you look at the actual attributes they have, there really is only about 4 or so choices that are different. There will be clubs that are exactly the same attributes, but the only difference is the brand, or a blue/silver/bronze colored bar at the top. I don't understand, that the HB clubs you get seem to have a really high forgiveness, and it is exactly the same as clubs that are further down, that cost a lot of coins. Seems like the more you pay, the better the clubs should be, but how are they better if the attributes are exactly the same? Surely if you want to stay with forgiveness/accuracy, you still would not stay with your starter clubs, and as you upgrade clubs, 'something' would be different. Can anyone elaborate on that?
Also, is there any difference in the putters? I looked at them, but I don't think I saw anything different other than looks.

Putters are just cosmetic

Im guessing that the clubs with same attributes are just cosmetically different. Those HB clubs are really ugly, would rather play branded stuff.
