Played one practice round in extra and played like crap, so this was a very pleasant surprise. But as usual, I still had to piss myself off, even in a good round. Played the last 5 holes very poorly. Could someone tell me my score, and exactly how each eagle, birdie and bogie affected my score. Would appreciate it. I make it 42, but pretty sure I'm out by 1 or 2. You needed to birdie index 18 (4th hole) so your par there is only worth one point. Same with the 2 bogies. All of your birdies are 3 points, the eagle is 4pts. 42 is spot on 👍 I didn't take the one off for the par on easiest hole, so I'm not sure how I managed to get to the right score 😂 But thanks mate, I'm starting to understand it now 👍

Holy crap! I think I figured it out! Probably not the right place to post it, but.....round 2 should be the post above. ^^^ I didn't want to edit it and mess it up.

Just couldn’t buy a putt thru the first 14 holes, the 3 birds before that were tap ins.
39 points for round 2.

Rd 1 Terrible putting! I think I know how Stableford scoring works, but not when handicap is involved. I’m pretty sure I didn’t pull my weight though, sorry team lol

I’m pretty sure I didn’t pull my weight though, sorry team lol You needed to make birdie on the 5 easiest holes to get your two points for those holes, otherwise pars got you 2 points and birdies got you 3. Did I get that right Paul/Ray?

Aaah ok that’s where the +5 comes hdcp comes into play. So birdie on these would be like a par, and par like a bogey since I’m adding a stroke? I was thinking par was 0 pts though, maybe I don’t know Stableford.
edit- looks like the version I’m thinking of is modified Stableford. I was wondering how I only had 14 pts and everyone else was so much higher 😂
Is 38 right?!

But starting to get the hang of it now...

Your scorecard is pretty easy booze, you have two strokes better than your hcp - which indeed is 38 Points (the same as my first round btw). The thing with stableford, is that a double, tripple bogey etc is always 0 Points, so it doesn't matter if you totaly screw up a hole. So the only time you will see stableford points not reflecting strokes - is when you get some of those holes (which is pretty common among amateur golfers I would say..).

Scoring is 1 bogie 2 par 3 birdie 4 eagle 5 albatross 6 Condor (golf's largest bird) which is to hole a par 5 tee shot or your second shot on a par 6.

Cool, definitely got a handle on it now. Yeah the version I was thinking of a bogey gives you -1 and a double -3, I like this a lot more as it seems to push you to be aggressive, which I am regardless but at least this way I can’t lose 3 pts lol.

With a high hcp, you can get lots of points even on a par, birdie or eagle. Lets say you have 3 strokes on a hole, that makes an eagle 5 under par - 7 Points.
