A quick word on handicaps.
The stroke index is how handicaps are applied. Most people IRL have a handicap somewhere between 0-18. Everyone in this society has a handicap under 10, which in RL terms means we are a pretty good group of golfers. The stroke index tells us which hole is the hardest on the course through to the easiest - with 1 being the hardest, 18 being the easiest. The way a person on a handicap of say, 7, would play to make a nett par on each hole would be to make par on the 11 easiest holes, and a bogey on the 7 hardest holes. A freak with a +3 handicap would have to par the 15 hardest holes, and birdie the 3 easiest to have a nett par on each hole.
Once you have the knowledge of how a handicap is applied, there’s a whole lot of games you can play which make it a level playing field - one of which is stableford. It’s fairly simple. You get 1 point for a nett bogey, 2 points for a nett par, 3 for a nett birdie, 4 for a nett eagle, 5 for a nett albatross.
So let’s say for example you’re have a handicap of 1. You’re playing the hardest hole on the course so you get your extra shot. It’s a par 5. You smack one down the middle and have a shot at the green and knock it close. You have an eagle putt that is for 5 points, 2 putts for 4 points etc.
A nett even par round is 36 points. 2 points per hole.
This weeks event is simple. It’s Stableford teams. All 4 rounds stableford scores will be added up, the team with the most points wins.
Post your cards for each of your 4 rounds here, if anyone needs help with their scores the admins will be happy to help. The idea is that once were used to applying handicaps it will be easier to have match play rounds.
One small glitch the game has thrown up - sometimes the stroke index is different between platforms. To overcome this we’ve decided to use the PC stroke index which will be posted here for reference.
Just to reiterate, theres no extra rounds to play. Just play your 4 rounds and do your best and the scores will look after themselves. Just be sure to post your cards in here.
Go the good guys 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Actually one small update. We should just use the stroke index on our own consoles this week, it’s only when we’re playing matchplay it would be an issue 👍

Just incase anyone is confused why our handicap leaderboard has handicaps minus instead of plus it is basically the same thing but I copied the games average scores and stuck to that system. In real life you would have a plus handicap as Ray has put down. I am in the process of changing that now on the handicap leaderboards and getting everything up to date. Muirfield Village handicap leaderboard will have everyone's current handicap under new handicap.

I asked this elsewhere in the forum last night, no response. Reposting here since I think it effects this comp.
I want to ask a question. How is swapping between Masters and Pros felt for the sake of the new HDCP based competitions? I have always played Masters but might want to drop down to see if I can handle USE better. Would this move mess things up?
Like I said I am only thinking about this move, not made up my mind.

+1 hdcp. I have no idea if that is good, bad, or meh. I'll do my best not to mess up posting scorecards - ie remembering to take a screenshot - and let everyone else tell me how bad I lost.

A +1 handicap means that you average -0.5 to -1.4 rounded off to -1 so it means your average score on USE is actually under par which is pretty good. When I do the handicap leaderboard I have to add a stroke on to each round you shoot so your 4 round total on the handicap leaderboard will be 4 strokes extra. Will finish the leaderboards and handicap leaderboards tomorrow after work. Not been feeling to great today.

Though it's not a rule I think members should play the same clubs for the 4 rounds though.

I can't see a reason for a player to must play pro or master clubs for the 4 rounds.

Maybe regarding realism, chopping and changing driving and club distances per rounds is not realistic for a start. Also if you're struggling with masters tempo it's the reason you're playing pro which I am fine with. It shouldn't be used for tactical play because of changing course conditions.

So is the stableford event kicking off with this weeks tourney at TPC Scottsdale?

I noticed when you start a round you have the option to check handicap scoring on custom rules. Would this help us with our score tracking or make it more confusing? IDK lol
