Your scorecard is pretty easy booze, you have two strokes better than your hcp - which indeed is 38 Points (the same as my first round btw). The thing with stableford, is that a double, tripple bogey etc is always 0 Points, so it doesn't matter if you totaly screw up a hole. So the only time you will see stableford points not reflecting strokes - is when you get some of those holes (which is pretty common among amateur golfers I would say..). Cool, definitely got a handle on it now. Yeah the version I was thinking of a bogey gives you -1 and a double -3, I like this a lot more as it seems to push you to be aggressive, which I am regardless but at least this way I can’t lose 3 pts lol. It helps higher handacap players as 1 or 2 bad holes can destroy a round in strokeplay.

All golf clubs has a slope and course rating. From this rating, each hcp gets a number of strokes (or if you have a + hcp, you may loose some strokes). So in real life, the number of strokes is not only based on your average performance, but also on the difficulty of the course and tee you have chosen. Each tee has its own rating on the course, so you would get different amount of strokes based on the tee you are playing from.

Yes booze has to add a shot on stroke index 14,15,16,17,18. Scoring is 1 bogie 2 par 3 birdie 4 eagle 5 albatross 6 Condor (golf's largest bird) which is to hole a par 5 tee shot or your second shot on a par 6. With a high hcp, you can get lots of points even on a par, birdie or eagle. Lets say you have 3 strokes on a hole, that makes an eagle 5 under par - 7 Points. A 28 handicapper will get 2 strokes on stroke index 1 to 10.

A 28 handicapper will get 2 strokes on stroke index 1 to 10. In real life, it depends on slope and course rating for the tee used. On my home course, a 36 hcp'er from the 55 tee's gets 41 strokes total. On Atlungstad Golf, a 36 hcp'er get 48 strokes from the 64 tees we used in our tournament. And, with the new hcp rules - we now have slope ratings up to 54 hcp - so on Atlungstad Golf 64 tees - a 54 hcp'er will get 71 strokes!

Really wow, I thought everyone starts on 28. Though I have never been a member of a club. My society starts on 24,so even if you're higher you have to play off 24.

Tbh my society sticks to the stroke index and don't use the slope ratings for all the courses we play.

My society starts on 24,so even if you're higher you have to play off 24. When I started playing back in the 90's, 36 was the highest hcp - and to get a white hcp card, you needed to play and score three rounds of 36 points or more based on the strokes a 36 hcp'er gets from the tee you play. Not so these days. As a new golfer, you start at 54 hcp today. This was introduced several years ago as "Club hcp" - and on most tournament, all players above 36 hcp played on 36 hcp. These days, tournaments can also use up to 54 hcp as the courses are sloped up to 54 hcp. Usualy tournaments here have stableford for those above 18 hcp, and stroke for under 18 hcp.

Aaah ok that’s where the +5 comes hdcp comes into play. So birdie on these would be like a par, and par like a bogey since I’m adding a stroke? I was thinking par was 0 pts though, maybe I don’t know Stableford. edit- looks like the version I’m thinking of is modified Stableford. I was wondering how I only had 14 pts and everyone else was so much higher 😂 Is 38 right?! Spot on 👍

27 was the highest handicap allowed when I started. Pretty sure men are allowed out to 36 here now, but I’m not sure really.

Another good round for me this week 👏 Our captain is better than their captain 😂 Ha, I would suggest, with my recent play, that your cockiness is GROSSLY misplaced 😉 But thanks for the vote of confidence 😘
