Putting is my issue…I tend to overpower them…

Thanks for having me guys.
Just played my first round of USE action. Forgive me on hole 1, shot 1. I followed cam’d the ball by mistake. Force of habit.
Managed to get up and down from the sand for birdie and then proceeded to play very badly. Until the 15th where I hit shot of the day, putting the tee shot to 5 feet for eagle. Needed it as I was +3 at that point. Unlucky not to birdie the 16th and then birdied the 17th and 18th to finish 71 (-1).
Really enjoyed it. Need to get used to putting without the marker and pitching when in ‘splash’ zone.
My round is on YouTube for all those bothered. Forgive me if I broke any rules. Other than shot 1 I think I followed them correctly.

71/76/71 (+2) thru three rounds. Not at my best but I’m adapting to lack of putting marker which is making it harder for me to judge breaks. Having fun though.

I am having a really rough time trying to read the breaks on the greens...I am hoping for a couple of suggestions on reading them...Also Me and Bpatrick4489 have put in to joining linksland but so far it is still pending.....thanks for the great Society!! As Paul said, and use the putter cam to get low to see the breaks better - from behind the hole and from behind the ball. Also, keep in mind that even the pros in real life don't make all putts, and even at 6 feet the real life make % is as low as 60%. I don't know if you play golf in real life, but we try to always get in range of 3 feet from the hole with our first putt in order to avoid three-putting or worse. The same goes for chipping etc - the aim is to get the ball inside 3 feet of the hole. So be sure not to hit the ball too long or too short - distance control is key in putting and the short game. Be careful on the downhill putts, and never be too aggressive on faster and firmer conditions or on downhill putts in general. Thank you for the putter cam tip. Neither me or Bob had that enabled and now that i can get behind the pin and a little closer to the ground it is getting better!!

I run a couple of sim society's on xbox and when I get some beginners in I always encourage them never hunt for birdies always lag get your distance putting bang on first , always look to 2 putt and then with a little patience your start dropping putts 4 birdies

I get from tee to green for the most part in fine shape. I have a lot of birdie putts but then blow up with the putter. In my TGC true sim I average around 23-29 putts per round…
In USE in this particular tourney I was putting 32-37 per round, way too many extra shots for me….I’m just still getting used to the no rumble of my controller….
But I had fun and will strive to get better….I like the master swing, I’m used to that and can dial it in, but that putter, lol

A bad back nine in round 4 meant I finished over par. I blame the tiredness after being drained from watching Man Utd take a hell of a beating from the mighty Foxes!
71/76/71/74 (+4)
Really struggling without the putting marker. I can’t move around the greens to read putts as freely unless I’m missing something? Never missed so many 5 foot putts in my life. I usually get behind the hole a lot further back then the camera allows me without a putting marker. Shame, as I’m loving player master swing.

Switch to driver to get further behind the ball Luke ,don’t forget to switch back to putter though 😁

But I had fun and will strive to get better….I like the master swing, I’m used to that and can dial it in, but that putter, lol I think the game having a rumble feature doesn't help people learn the feel for distance in this game especially with putting, we didn't need it for TGC 2019 and we don't need it for 2K 21. There are actually a couple different putting techniques for distance control you can use, some use a timing technique, my technique is visualising how much the putter head is drawn back and I use the same technique for partial pitch shots. You learn these distance and you don't need percentage numbers feedback. I use the full putting camera (slightly raised) as this give a better view or how far you are drawing back the putter head. This gives a much better feel for putts under 20 foot, I always pull the right stick all the way back to the plastic just like I did in TGC 2019, it is a little bit of a faster putting back stroke in 2K 21 but it took me about 30 minutes on the putting green to adjust to a quicker speed. Also a good firm push forward of the stick makes it easier to hit a straighter forward stroke, like the backstroke I always hit the plastic. There is no tempo for putting forward stroke unlike other shots but you will build your own tempo after a while. I seriously recommend just turning off the rumble assist for All your rounds even on TGCTours, you don't need it and you will learn that feel for distance and start lagging putts over 30 foot closer the more you play and there is great satisfaction in lagging a 70 footer to under 5 foot. Hit the putting green and turn on auto mulligan as it is a great way to learn the different distances and build up that crucial feel for distance you need to putt well and avoid 3 putts.

I had plans to do so myself, so perhaps I should record and upload the rounds. I watched your first round, and we do the green reading a bit different, but that is no big deal. I pan around and do spend a little more time than you do but not much. What I did notice, is that you seemd to have some trouble on distance control on the chip shots, some bunker shots (some where great), and pitches. I also think you got better distance control during the round with the putter avoiding those nasty 5-10 feet return that are easily missed. You did miss a couple on the high side, so reading a bit too much break at some semi-short putts. A question: is it harder to read the green without the marker, or see where you aim? I totaly agree that we should be able to freely look as close or far back as we want without the marker, and have told HB so thousands of time, but they did not change the circular putting cam which is a shame. I would also love a walking cam on every part of the course. However, to get futher back, change the club to another club to get the more distant view - you will however not get as low as I want from futher back with a lob wedge for instance, but it is better than nothing. This is mostly a case on longer downhill putts - and not on those 5 feet putts. On longer uphill putts I think the cam is often too far back, and would want to move closer - but this is a limitation in the game that I do not like.

Australian PGA Championship resultsWe stay in Australia for week 4 of the USE Master Tour to enjoy some lovely sunshine and another Aussie golf course that is just a joy to play and beautiful to look at. nonuse_hki comes back from a long USE break and shows no rustiness in his golf game to produce an exception 7 stroke victory in Victoria, Melbourne. Colly and Topflight (in his first USE tournament) tie for second place on 16 under. Low round is from last weeks champion Tuffguts, a superb 62 in round 3. A perfectly struck 8 iron directs the ball into the bottom of the hole and the keys to the sports car into Anders' pocket. A lovely ace on hole 14 round 2 and the shot of the week.

Really enjoyed the tournament guys.
And yes, Anders, I’ve always been guilty of missing on the high side. But generally have good pace control in all speeds. Was struggling with not being able to walk around the greens with the marker for my reads but I’ll have to try that change to the driver technique that’s been said. Thanks for the tips. Look forward to next event.
