This week we head to Green Eagle Nord (Tour) in Hamburg, Germany for the Porsche European Open. Green Eagle Golf Courses is the complex where the tournament takes place. It includes two courses known as the North and South. The North Course, now the home of the Porsche European Open, opened in 1997. But when it was chosen as the new home of the tournament beginning in 2017, the North Course underwent a renovation by European Golf Design. Six of the green complexes were set for construction and redesign. For daily play, the North Course is a par-73 layout that, from the tips, stretches to a daunting 7,831 yards—making it, for now, the longest golf course in Europe. The South Course tips out at 6,598 yards and has a par of 72. There is also a par-3 course and driving range. The 18-hole scoring record for a round in the European Open is 60, set by Darren Clarke during the 1999 tournament. Clarke made 12 birdies, tying the tour's record for most birdies in a round; and at one point during the round he made a then-record eight consecutive birdies.

A little birdie chirped at me to expect a breezy, VERY breezy event. Oh joy.
Onward!

-9 2nd round. -9 total. Had at least half a dozen chip ins all up. Rd1 first birdie was a chip in after I think 6 GIRs and 6 2 putts in a row. Putted much better in Rd2....and customary chip ins of course. Messy Rd's 3 and 4. Alot of of bad slotted in there with the good. Good luck all....tough course this one. No gimme birdies maybe apart from 18...and 1 if your pitching is on song.

R1 complete. I forgot how tough this course plays even in the mildest of conditions. I was happy to finish up at +2 for the round.

Finished R2. Less of a breeze, but still difficult to score on this course. For me a par feels like a birdie. I did manage to shoot -2, so I'm at even par at the halfway mark.

First Round in, trying to get my rounds in before Thursday. Fantastic start on the 1st. Should've made that close putt on the 2nd. What happens when you don't capitalize on those type of chances? The golf gods already know This course is plenty tough. Didn't even come close to hitting enough fairways. Tempo was off along with swing line. Scrambled quite a bit. Couldn't get the right reads on the greens. Quite the number of squares on this scorecard. Was glad with my score after R1. That was a grind.

Round 1 on this beast, reminding me of the German men's national football team. Played with polekatt/josia who today had the mighty Bridgestone driver I think. Not even sure I played this course before. When I was glad one monster hole was behind me, another even worse one turned up. So many places to be severly punished. How little me walked off the 18th with 70 I will never understand. This course wore me down, but obviously not polekatt/josia who birdied 2 of the last 3 and had a birdie chip 1 inch from the hole on the last. Very well played and especially impressive short game. I made two sacrifices, bogies, on 16th and 17th for this course. Still it feels like I have angered it and it will eat me whole before this is over.

Your game has really rounded into shape lately. Keep it going!

I was wondering if it was really me out there. One of those rare moments that everything felt it was going correctly! 9 really got me, as I got out in the heavy stuff and didn't have enough umph! to get back to the green easily. But the rest of course I felt I managed pretty decently.
Three takeaways, on my round - My putting and tempo have gotten better immensely, thanks mainly to you guys here on this board, your advice, and actually practicing it on my end. - Yes, I switched the mighty Bridgestone and have not regretted it. Someone on the other forum told me long and wrong is better than short and wrong. They were not wrong. - In the above round I got around my next Achilles heel of partial pitch shots by simply not having many of them come up. Perhaps thats the key? just play all my other shots so I don't end up with a shot less than 52 thats not a chip?

And we didn’t had a ball in the water between us. We can celebrate with a bowl of gravy. I have already finished one, haha.

Also way to finish off the round down the stretch and by the sound of it a much improved short game polekatt/josia 👍 After a grind of R1 yesterday. A bit of a range session with the launch monitor to check up on the swing. Getting quick which was causing grey fasts and some red fasts which was nuking the ball 20-30 ft past the pin. Took a look at my swing line and it looked like Chris DiMarco's claw putting grip at the top. Well struck shot were just right of the target. Glad I took a look at it. Sometimes the game feels spot on. Other times it's a grind and just try to keep it together. Such is golf ⛳ Scheduled Second Round pairing with Tuffguts later today.

I just finished up the tournament. (+2) round 3 and (+2) round 4 for a total of (+4). I got stupid in the 4th round. I was at +1 for the tournament heading to the 18th hole. I hit a nice drive dwon the center of the fairway. At 211 yards from the hole, I had a Tin Cup moment and tried for the green in 2. I hit a 3H with 208 yards of carry. I faded the ball but forgot it takes some distance off the shot. I hit the bank a few yards short and it plopped in the water. A couple of bad pitches later I had a triple bogey. Glad the Posh European Tour tournament is over with! That course is beautiful but twice as tough.

Spain is in Europe as well. 😬

Second Round in the books. I'd have to say over the entire USE season so far, Tuffguts would have to be my main rival week in and week out. Always look for his name on the Leaderboard. This matchup was close to start. Tee shots in the short stuff is gold this week. He was quite stellar around the greens as well.
