This week we play the British Championship on St Annes Old Links Golf Club in northwest England.
St Annes Old Links Golf Club was established in 1901 on land that was previously Lytham & St Annes Golf Club. Lytham & St Annes Golf Club had relocated two miles south which now is the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club. The course was first remade from the old by George Lowe, but the club was weak so it saw several changes in the first years - but in 1909 Alex Herd - the 1902 Open Champion with Lowe made the final changes to the course as we see it today. The only original greens left after this was the original 10th and 11th which now is the 17th and 10th green.

Love this course! thankfully it's quite easy as I make the transition from PS4, -7 at halfway but I can see some folks going very low here!

In the hutch at -17, by the end it almost felt like it did on PS4 when I used to play legend mode, I much prefer it on PC though, feels more real with the difficulty but I'm starting to get more dialled in - pitch shots have been the hardest to get right, hitting a lot of slows and ending up half way to the hole

Round 1: Hacked around on the front 9.Found a bit a bit of form on the back 9 but also missed a couple of 6 footers so could easily have been a couple lower.Loving all the links golf at the minute 😎

I was -9 at the midway point. Then got stuck in neutral in the last 2 rounds and finished at -9

Started off beautifully with a -11 in the soft and slow conditions. Had the pace of the greens very early and attacked. Rolled in some nice putts. Then 10 shots worse in Rd2 and nothing wanted to drop for me. Steadied the ship and finished -6, -7 for -25 overall and still had a few silly short putt errors. Cheers and good luck all.

During the warm up to round 1, every swing was a severe push. Fell back to an emergency swing that worked pretty well. Read that it was easy conditions but so slow greens are difficult for me. Left maybe 5-6 shots on the greens, including a few 1-2 inches short on line. The double at 17 was a rare 4 putt. No disaster at +1 though. My playing partner for the day, davec187 , had a lot of good birdie putts just miss on the side. Plenty of good approach shot to enjoy there.

Round 1 was brought to you by the old Chinese proverb: If the tortoise is not around, the hare can run at his own pace.

Round 2 was brought to you by the old 1970's proverb: Crisp and clean and NO caffeine:
