Holed out for a 2 on hole 1....love being -2 after 1. But I have to call a penalty on myself because somewhere in the first 7 or 8 holes, I've realised I splashed out of fairway or rough. Can't remember which hole....my memory is crap at the best of times. Finished -1 for the round. Rd2; -1. Was -4 after 14 and bogied 3 out of the last 4. First time playing 187's in the game and happy with it all. Onto Rd's 3 and 4.

Pretty sure it was just the one time but if anyone wants to ghost me, they may be able to confirm. Could not buy a putt in Rd4....heaps slid by the edge. Anyway, good luck all and see u next week.

my round 1 is still being plagued by putting woes.
It feels a bit better, but something about the push/pull seems harder. Seems like every other shot the ball is jumping off at a 30 degree angle to the right or left.
I noticed over on TGCT they were talking about variable speed, if you pull the marker closer to you, it makes your backswing faster. Without the marker, how does that work? Because what it FEELS like, is that without the marker, its more of a constant, consistent speed, that I can actually control. Honestly, playing my TGCT round and USE round yesterday, I felt that I putted better in USE, without the marker. Would that make sense, or was it my imagination?

Do you pull the stick all the way back to the plastic on your controller on your putting back stroke ? That's what I do now, it is so much easier to keep the putting line straight for me with this method. A good firm forward stroke too. The shorter putts the backswing is slower now so it doesn't feel like you are drawing the putter back like a chip shot if you pull back all the way. I am actually putting like TGC2019 now if not better. I actually feel putting is the strongest part of my game right now. The slow half pull back I used before contributed to so many push and pulled putts and I lost real confidence with putting.

Wait, so let me make sure I'm understanding- Since it does not matter how far the controller stick goes back, only the putter itself, and it does not matter how fast it goes forward, you are pulling the stick all the way back till it hits, then mashing it forward much like a shot with an iron or wood?
I would have never thought of this. I will give it a try, if that is what you are doing. Because I've noticed, when on tee to green, I don't have that push/pull problem, and thats the difference, I pull it all the way back.
On the very short putts, does it not make your putter go back to far? Are you pulling back really fast on it, to get it to the back of the plastic, before you have to push it forward for a 3 footer?

They have slowed the back stroke down for the short putts. Have a practice with this method on the practice green. It doesn't matter how fast tou pull back or push forward as there is not tempo with putting.

How fast you pull back has no effect on how fast your back stroke is in the game. The back stroke speed will very from shot to shot like the game sets different backswing speeds for pitch and flops. The putting distance is all about actually how far you pull the putter head back. My feel for distance is 100% knowing how far to pull the putter back. You will notice you might start hitting a few too hard but you get used to it. Hit my best long putting in round 1 with 171 speed greens 55% long putts(over 10 ft) holed. You just get a feel for it, practice green is great to get a feel for all different length of putts, shame you can't change green speed.

Wow, the putting backswing is the same speed whatever you do?? That's crazy. The only reason I do it slow is to give myself time to judge the distance!

The game changes the backswing speed depending on the putt distance. I think moving the marker back and forth effect it just like it does for other shots.

Right, so short, medium and long putts will all be different speeds, but pulling back doesn't affect it. Ok. I'm sure it feels like I'm making it go back slow on longer putts, but maybe it's more that I'm just delaying the start and then it's the same speed once it starts. Must be that. I might experiment with this, because bad putt lines is a big issue for me... Pulling the marker back on full shots (and pitches and chips etc) affects the backswing?? Haha, I'm clearly missing a lot with this game...

Round 4 and I had Tuffguts beat for the round until the last two holes (putting woes, naturally). Still happy with the card.

The Dawgs play Alabama on Saturday. Party at Jeff’s house. Golf ain’t happenin’. 😄 They don't play until 3:30pm. Plenty of time to get 2 USE rounds in. ME: “Hey Honey! You go ahead and get everything ready for the party, clean the house and run and get the ice for the cooler. I’ll be downstairs playing video golf.” WIFE: <insert your best guess at her response here>
