Just wondering how you guys warm up for each round that counts? Or do you?
With me, it seems to take anywhere from 6-12 holes to get into a rhythm of swinging, before I get a feel for it. The first 6-12 holes of each play session, I'm just all over the place, I dont' seem to have that rhythm down until I do it a few times. My muscle memory with controllers is just never been very good, to retain it for any game.
I abhor the driving range, I just ...can't sit there and mindless hit a ball over and over.
So for me, I've got to the point of since I don't care about the TGCT scores anymore, I just use those rounds as a warmup round for these. But lately even that has started feeling like a chore.
What do you all do?

I just take a bunch of practice swings at the first tee. My first swing is ALWAYS a bad slant from left to right, so I’ll take at least 6 or 7 swings to “find it”. I also see no point to using the driving range, as this is accomplishing the same thing but much faster.

I just go straight in and play and hope that my 1st tee shot isn't too bad haha

I also just go to the 1st hit the ball and hope it lands on the fairway. As in real life if I have a good 1st hole the rest of the round seems to flow from that. Having said that I double bogy' d the par 5 1st hole all 4 rounds this week Grrrrrrrr. Think I will try a few practice swings on the 1st tee next week , see how it goes....

I never practice. I can’t play the game if it doesn’t count towards something. My swing is normally pretty straight with a little tick to the left at the top which creates a little pull, it’s all about tempo for me even when I play on pc. I’ve played with the same swing since Links, PGA486 and thru all the Tiger games so it’s fairly grooved.
Much easier to just blame the XBox tempo issues when I play bad lol.

Driving range...I'll swing every club beginning at LW and up. Can only go up a club if I have a perfect/perfect swing. The.10 chips/flops...have to get 7/10 within 5 feet

I'm in a bunch of other societies so I tend to use their events as warm ups:P

I'm with unclevirt and use other society rounds as a primer. It's when I play a really good first round that I wonder if the same would have happened if I chose USE first.

I keep promising to play practice rounds but rarely do, and if I do and am playing well I usually stop the round and start my USE round. I need to practice more as I only play my 4 USE rounds each week. Game was really rusty this week, hit a load of birdies but way too many mistakes and dropped shots.

In this game, I just head to the driving range and hit a couple of drives to get the feel for tempo before I play.
In real life however I have tried different warm ups (range first, putting first etc), but have landed on the following that works for me: I start with my lob wedge. Start with stretching and swinging in the air to loosen my body up. I then hit pitches on different length and targets on the range before I hit some full shots with the lob wedge. Next I take 9 iron and hit some shots. Then a 5-6 iron, a few shots with a 3 iron and my 3 wood before I hit my driver. At the end of the warm up on the range, I tend to hit a few shots that I know I face at the first tee - giving myself confidence for the first tee shot. After the range, I go to the practice green to chip. I chip with 1-2 balls, and the second ball is always just if I duff or make other crap. This gives me the first feel for the speed on the greens for the day - moving around and chipping from different positions/lies to different targets. Finish up with the putter in the same way - putting from different distances, uphill, downhill, sidebreak etc. Make sure I also hit those close putts to give confidence on the short putts. On normal rounds with my friends I don't need more than 30 min warmup, but I tend to have a 45 min warmup before competitions.

I’ve realised this afternoon that my preparation is all away from the game. I’d planned to play at 4pm when the new tournament went live but I’ve got to be in the mood to play.
In R/L golf I used to warm up with just a handful of shots with wedge, 7i, 5i 3i then driver. I got down to 7 where I stayed within a shot or two. So long as the last one I hit with each club is a good one I’m happy with 3 or 4 balls with each club. It’s more about confidence than working on anything I used my own practice balls and would collect them by hitting them all to 3i length with a LW practicing my pitches and chips till the balls were close enough to pick up easily. Couldn’t do it on busy days but normal Saturday comps I’d be fine. I’d hit the practice green 10 minutes before my tee time and hit a few long putts to get the speed. I wouldn’t aim for a hole, I’d hit a first ball then try to stop the second and third close to it. I’d practice 1m putts till I holed 3 in a row, then 2m, then 3m etc till they call my name.
I managed to cut it down to arriving 15 minutes before my tee time, smashing bongs in the green keepers shed then sneaking in a pint and heading straight to the tee. Results varied.

I play my TGCT round first because I’ve stopped caring about that tour now! USE is where it’s at!

THANK YOU booze!!
I had actually forgotten about this feature, and doing this has proven to help me greatly. I used to do it and forgot about it. Taking those swings on the first tee helps me find the rhythm, and then when I get off with a very fast or slow, I can stop again and take a deep breath and practice swing until I feel it again. thanks!

It depends on how much time I have. Sometimes I will play a full practice round. Sometimes 9 holes to get the swing going. Other times I go to the driving range and cycle through different clubs and shots, i.e. flops, chips, pitches and full shots to get the swing dialed in then I hit the course.

Awesome!! Glad to help.I do it not only for accuracy reasons, but to get a feel for how the tempo is acting. I play PS4 so I’m probably not in the right to complain, but there’s a variance I’ve found. There’s just times, mainly in the morning (EST) I’ve found, that it can require a bit more force to not get a slow downswing (or to get an intentional fast).Maybe I’m nuts lol, but I don’t think so! So all the practice swings can help with that. I feel like the driving range doesn’t help because there’s a difference between that and being connected to the server playing in a society. Again, possibly nuts lol, but my theory. Aside from that, I sometimes do it at least the first time I’m doing a short swing flop or chip, just to get comfortable with the percentages.
