The main thing for me, so far, is I can't get a feel for it. (putting)
I can't work out the distance until i get a feel for how it works. Every putt either goes 2 inches, or way faster than I think, and I have yet to "feel" it either way, as to what exactly is wrong. The putts that seem to go the right distance are all going off the left at a 45 degree angle. I am basically putting 4-6 times per green till I can get the ball to stop right at the hole.
Putting is really different from TGC 2019. Best tip I have for you Josia - is to really slow things down with the putter. Just move it slight backwards slowly, and then learn the avatar motion for how much % power you get. Never move the stick all the way back. Just slightly so the avatar starts to move slowly. I struggle often enough myself - since I fall sometimes into the old habits. But old habits must die in this case.

Picked Legend in poll, but changed my mind to master.
Loving the game so far. Playing the pga tour on pga tour on pro difficulty. + 4 my best round so far, usually + 10 to + 15 a round. Have the ai set to lowest skill and very easy. + 10 can win 🤣.
Hope to improve a bit more...

Just got my first HIO on 2K21. I saved the replay but it's not coming up on my PS4. Says network error. It was on Royal Lytham and St Annes. It was the par 3 hole #12. As soon as I can get the replay I will post it. It was with Master difficulty.

I did a lot of practice today, and figured out two things-
1st, the light bulb came on in putting.
I'm STILL not good at it, but I figured out how to do it. If anyone else is very frustrated, this is what I was doing wrong. I was trying to pull back the stick like you do a backswing when hitting with the clubs. I kept seeing to pull back extremely slow. It was just by accident that I realized that extremely slow means to slowly pull the stick back and STOP. As long as I hold the stick in that position the putter will continue to go back until I release it and go forward. So by continuing to pull the stick back, thats what causes the massive whackity smack. If you just pull the stick back a few millimeters and stop and hold it while the putter continues to go back, then you get the smooth motion of what you want it to do. This may be common knowledge to most, but I wonder how many people are frustrated, were doing it like me, and simply did not know you are supposed to stop, that the putter will continue to do a backswing. And if you hit it too hard going forward, it pushes the ball off to the left at a 30 degree angle. Got to be smooth with it.
2nd, I realized that just like last game, the difference in male and female avatars is a lot. Like usual, I had to try to make a hot chick to play with and watch. I did it on the last round of the day, after I had gotten used to the swings. All of the sudden, even though I'm swinging the same, it felt different, because she has a different swing. Off the green, where I was hitting perfects about 1 in 7 times, with the female, I was literally hitting perfect 9/10 times. every shot. But then, when I got on the green, the putting, was like I had never did it before. Well, it was like it was before the light bulb above came on, but waay worse. I was maxing out the shot count every single hole, just on the putts. Because as quick as putting is, even though I had started getting used to it with the male avatar, the female one felt about 10 times even quicker, and pushed the ball every single time.
Just some stuff I noticed today!

Just managed a 76 at Craigendoran Links w/ modified Legend settings. Oh, and thanks polekatt/josia /josia, my putting was tremendously better for one round. Now I'm going to try it again with Scout Camera OFF and see if I can break 100. lol Follow cam ON Scout Camera UI OFF (so scout cam but no aiming reticule) Aiming Marker - Marker only Distance into Position - in HUD NO GRIDS!! Edits: Shot 78 with the Scout Camera OFF had moderate winds this time.... Next round, no Follow Cam

Just in case you guys aren't already aware, follow cam may not be lockable. I was playing a round (local match) at Royal Ethalwind and had Follow Camera turned off. Pressing the D-pad made it active. Maybe it's different for societies?

Maybe it's different for societies? Yes - it is the same as in TGC 2019 where you can switch camera with the pad and thus have follow cam even if it is turned off. And follow cam is not going to be lockable in societies, so no change there.

I wasn't expecting follow cam or ghost balls to be lockable tbh. Happy with the bunch here and our honour system.

Thanks P/J I have been struggling with putting. I will try your method. It sounds like the way to do it! 👍 Edit: This made a huge difference in my putting. Thx

I had originally voted for Master difficulty. I withdrew my vote for further testing. I think I would really prefer Pro but I know no one else would lol. I know being in USE that we want to have the most realistic sim experience. However, I also know in the past when Larry was here we were comparing our stats to the PGA. I think once we start some exhibition tournaments then we can see the results and how things fall out. I visited the TST site and here are the settings they are using for their 1st exhibition tournament. So I guess if we are the Ultimate Sim Experience we have to be more difficult than TST correct? lol. Society is created as TGCTours (True Sim Tour). We are playing TPC Boston. Here are the society settings: Swing Diff: Master Swing Timing: on Distance Control Meter: Off Distance Control Assist: Off Putt Preview: 0 Course Ydg: On PV Wind: Off PV Lie Pen: Off PV Lie Angle: Off PV Elevation: Off PV Tru Shot: Off PV Traj: Off Scout Cam: Off Lie Grid: Off Green Grid: Off Pin Pref: Open Aim Marker: Marker Only Wind Display: Meter Distance Display: Carry

I do not want things to be more difficult per se - but we want to have it as realistic as possible. There are things we can do, in our honor system, that TST can't. The main difference as I see it outside the honor rules - are Aim marker off, and Course ydg book only.
We compared the stats from season 2 from PC and PS4 - and to recap what it shows: 1: Too accurate off the tee. Fairway% is too good in USE season 2 compared to the PGA real life. GIR was also too good, but closer to the real life PGA stats. 2: Scrambling was much better in USE compared to PGA real life. This was the stat that was most unrealistic. 3: Putting was very close to PGA real life stat.
From this - to get more realistic stats, we need more challenging swing difficulty. I feel after playing a bit in the game, that Master is the correct level - but we will be doing some practice tournaments, and we can get some pointers in what is correct. That is why this poll will remain open, so if you want to change your mind, that is fine.
And to be clear - I do not want us to have a difficulty that is too difficult, so we get unrealistic stats the other way with too many missed fairways etc either.

From playing Pro swing difficulty settings on Switch. The driving is too easy and the the swing is too forgiving just as Legend Swing Difficulty is too unforgiving for slightly offline shots I feel.

Had a round on PS4 and I found the driving again way too easy like TGC2019, I didn't even calibrate my swing. @sirwade in the graphics setting on PS4 I turn off bloom and DOF because I don't like those settings for a golf game, keep screen space ambient occlusion on because that is a fantastic lighting effect. I would use FX anti aliasing as that will give you better framerates than the other options or turn it off if you don't really notice the jaggies. I have accepted you and paddyjk19, can't find a way to add you both as admin any help with that andersnm
