So, for next season's majors we have Augusta (as much as I hate Royce, him doing the remodeled 13th makes that course a must, in my opinion,) Torrey pines for the US open (yay!) St Andrews for the UK open (yay again! Irl due to this year's cancellation, it's not till '22, so we'll be a year ahead from now on)
And then kiawah island, ocean course, for the USPGA. The current version is not that accurate, according to ezzino, and I believe I've seen others say it's not that good either.
Anyone up for doing a lidar version? It's a long way off, so there'd be no rush!

It's a long way off, so there'd be no rush! So no need for me to do a lidar version of Augusta? I think I will do it either way. As for the 13th - it has been stated that there will be no changes for the Masters 2020. What will happen for 2021 is yet to be seen. The majority of players don't want to have the tee moved back, but instead doing some changes so they can't hit over the trees as far as I can read (suggestion ranges from lowering the tee, adding tree, move the tee to the left but not longer). It is also quite interesting to read the conclusions that has come from reports on hitting distance in golf from the ruling bodies: the conclusion is that futher hitting distance in golf is not wanted, and suggestions have come to rules concering equipment etc. It was stated that Augusta waited for this report before they wanted to do anything on the 13th. So it might be that Augusta never move that tee back. I also just want to ask if it is a must for us to follow the schedule for majors? The only majors that are fixed is Augusta, East Lake (and Sawgrass if you consider the players as a 5th major). Just curious if we might want to have something different than St Andrews and Torrey Pines, since we for the rest of the season don't follow the PGA schedule strictly? I don't personaly have anything against those two courses, just to be clear on that.

I was under the impression the 13th changes were confirmed. Lane purchased, work started. Maybe I misunderstood.

Augusta has bought the land from Augusta Country Club - and the service road is build. But Augusta has made it clear that there will be no changes for the 2020 Masters. And that they wanted to wait for the report on hitting distance - which has come.

Personally, I'd much rather play the majors that are actually happening. It gives the tour a feel of "authenticity" and realism, and adds a bit of excitement, for me.
If others felt strongly that they'd rather choose a course for them, I wouldn't object; just don't really see the point when we can put those courses somewhere else in the schedule anyway...
Defo need a LiDAR of East lake as well. And maybe Sawgrass, tho I do like how it plays; just feels a tad cartoony looking, or am I imagining it?

I might be tempted to do Kiawah Island Ocean Course - I guess that is the course from Kiawah Island that is wanted? I have very fond memories of this course from EA Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08.
Anyhow, I have decided to jump into East Lake first.

I just ordered Tiger Woods 14 on the Xbox 360 for a nostalgic play, for me it was the pinnacle, all fours lisenced majors, loads of great courses and equipment too. Just perfect! Sadly went downhill from there. Would love to see something similar with the user creation element we have in this game

Might have bought one more after. Being able to play Augusta was such a game changer. I either bought it right when the masters happened, or hadn't had it long, and just watched every minute of the masters whilst playing TW at Augusta. Good times!

Tiger Woods 08 was great, played 3 click loved it,was in a society like this. It also had a course designer and some great user generated courses. I had every PS3 Tiger game and they could not hold a candle to how good TW 08 was because of the user generated courses, not as good as what we have now but great for their time. They also had personalised flags which I loved. I played all the TW PS3 games with the move controller, enjoyed them but they were never Tiger08 PC for me.

Actually, the course architect tool was for TW 06 - so in order to create courses for TW 08, you had to have TW 06 as well. Also, user created courses didn't work well with the awesome PGA tour mode. What I liked best about the game was the feel and atmosphere and the progression you got from the PGA tour mode. Starting With ca. 209 total distance with the driver on the "Hack" level and playing skins and mathes with your AI friends. Playing the game with such carry and roll out made the courses play very differently. Bunkers was a hazard you needed to think about, because of the low carry and long roll on your shots (you needed to use the fairway in order to get distance). Making it to the amateur tour on forward tees, moving up to EA Tour and PGA Tour. Good times.
