The Oakmont Country Club is one of the oldest private clubs in the United States. Located in the Allegheny River Valley near the northeast suburbs of Oakmont and Plum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the club dates back to over a century ago and boasts of having a renowned world-class golf course that has consistently ranked alongside Pebble Beach and Augusta. This club was founded by designer Henry Clay Fownes in 1903. The club has hosted two U.S. Women’s Opens, three PGA Championships, five U.S. Amateurs and eight U.S. Opens.

Got in early and honestly have never played this course with the greens so placid as they were in Rd1. Made it pretty benign (as long as you hit the fairway) so hit a -6 and very happy. So knocking out a -7 in Rd2 with all the fasts felt way more satisfying. Some wicked approaches on the front 9. Nearly a HIO on the long par 3. A chip in and a crazy sideways putt in there. Some clutch par putts helped. Very happy with -13. Cheers

Very enjoyable round at Oakmont CC with Tuffguts and Charles. Some very good golf in the 3 ball with a great opening round by Tuffguts and a very solid round from Charles. I started well to be 3 under after 12, let it slip a bit but a very good recovery shot on 18 to save par for a 1 under first round.

Nice video watching my 1st round back with Tuffguts & hammers1man! Always insightfull and very impressive round by Tuffguts! World class playing as usual. Oakmont is no pushover by any standard and although the conditions were reasonably benign it remains a tough one. I'm happy with my play and the second round will be a much sterner test for sure!!

Went off first for the PS leaderboard. Decided to save my rounds (saving last 30 minutes started me put on the third green of round 1) First nine was pretty mediocre considering the benign conditions but had a strong second 9 with a great chip in on 18 to close out -8. Second round I think I played better but with the faster conditions I scored worse, I had a couple 3 putts which is rare for me but I didn't feel too bad about them, those greens are tough and some of the pins it was really difficult to play an approach and get below the hole www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpEeBj8REsQ

My second round didn't record properly, I played with Charles who's game was superb to shoot 2 under for the round and tournament. Was grinding it out to be +2 for the tournament on the 18th tee but finished with a disappointing double on 18 for a +4 finish. Those that finish under par this week I salute you .This course is very tough as it is in real life, Angel Cabrera won the 2007 US Open with a +5 total.
