Crans-sur-Sierre is surely one of the most beautiful golf course in the world. Imagine a plateau at 1500 meters high overlooking the Rhone valley. Facing you the highest peaks, from the Matterhorn to the Mont Blanc. It is in this majestic setting that the pioneers built the first golf course in 1906. Since then, the greens have continued to flourish in the sun and the greatest players let themselves be conquered by the natural beauty of the site. Here, golf is in conquered territory, with 4 courses, including the famous 18 hole, named after its prestigious creator, Severiano Ballesteros, classified by golf magazines as one of the nicest in the world and host of the European Masters, a major event. As for the second course, the Jack Nicklaus, it was designated the most beautiful 9 hole course of Switzerland on several occasions. This legendary course, home of the Omega European Masters, requires precision and a complete game. It meets the requirements of all levels of golfers. Located in an exceptional setting, it offers unforgettable views in a natural environment. Critics have identified it as one of the most beautiful in the world.

Teed it up after missing week 1 due to work. Tough start to the front 9 but it eases off a bit length wise, so my +2 after 4 got better and ended up -4 in Rd1 Sunk 2 bombs to start Rd2, perfect drive on the short par 4 for eagle and was -6 on front 9. Slow start but decent finish to back 9, 3 birds in last 4 holes for a -8. -12 total. FYI, I'm liking the 2 round format. Suits my impatient game play and lack of free time outside of work/family. Cheers

First round with bpatrick4489, nice to tee it up with him again. Some great golf early on from him, shame to see a few shots slip later on. Myself, matched bparticks -1, struggled a bit on the greens from under 10ft, over 10ft hit 30% over 2 rounds which is good putting from longer range. Love the putting in this game feels so realistic so always watch putting stats. Round 2 with the Aussie master Tuffguts, some great golf from him in a sublime USE round of golf. Couldn't keep up but played ok myself, not an easy course especially with USE settings though I am sure we would see 15 to 19 under rounds on TST on this course.

Since you just played the course and are familiar with it. I think you should play 2 rounds on Pro/TST settings with the same hole/USE tournament conditions. It wouldn't take you 35 minutes to play 2 rounds if you don't use ghosts. I am extremely curious to see what the difference in scores would be.

Ok @wade I played round 1 with the exact USE round 1 settings and I played splash once out of rough. My take on pro difficulty is that it is way too easy even for an average player like myself. I hit 7 shots better (-8) than my opening round of USE, granted I putted well but my FIR and GIR was below average and still hit 100% scrambling. The reason we have skill levels is to give us a challenge and on a sim tour 30+ under scores should be way out of reach from me. Coasting a -8 round does not feel like sim golf to me. TBH @wade you are way too good to be playing Pro swing difficulty and splash from every lie (TST rules). Tuffguts -12 is very nice golf over 2 rounds, on TST the top players would be -25 to -30 after 2 rounds. Also the game was running really choppy for some reason.

Paul, thanks for doing this comparison for me! I was really curious to see the difference with someone else playing. If you splashed all over the course, I'm sure your score would have been even lower. I really enjoyed playing Crans-sur-Sierre. It was a fantastic recreation and a tough course as well.

The thing is I don't think splash will come into play nearly as much as it does with Master as approach shots are more forgiving. TBH you would have to play purple clubs to have any long game challenge really but scrambling on TST is just way too easy because of splash. I think I would actually do quite well on TST because putting is probably the strongest part of my game and I hole a few of those 15 ish foot range putts. On Pro you can hit not a great tempo and still find yourself 15 foot away where many times on Master I am very happy with that distance putt for birdie. Wade you should stream your rounds on Twitch, I would certainly watch your streams. Craig got me into the bug and I love that all your good shots are there to watch, you can also snip out highlights if you want. Though we have few that actually play USE there is interest, we some times have nearly 100 guests in 24 hour period and had 16 views in my last stream.

hammers1man , I never really got into the Twitch thing Paul. I had an account at one time. I occaisionally like watching others that stream though. The only thing I don't like about Masters is that I can only use certain clubs. For instance I would love to play the Callaway set. But the swing plane on their woods is too small with Master. Some of the distances with the clubs is so short (211 5W) that 2K is really eliminating them for use. I don't know, it is what it is and that's what we've got.

I used to play purple clubs but they are tough for long irons/fairway woods and not good at all for partial pitching. I did notice that bpatrick plays a 48 yard pitch LW which is a good distance club for pitching, maybe a good starter club for those new to USE, mine is 58 and built into muscle memory for pitching for me now. I have played the same clubs for a long time, I think my driver is purple and the rest gold and am probably a medium to shorter distance PGA Tour hitter with that set up. It should be harder to hit longer and accurate even though the club implementation isn't realistic.

A six stroke victory for Tuffguts with an impressive -12, colly 2nd on -6 and hammers1man 3rd on -3. Low round is a excellent 62 from Tuffguts.
