BALLYOWENA TASTE OF GOLFING HISTORY Designed in the spirit of the worldโs first golf courses, Ballyowen is one of the top golf courses in New Jersey, with a spectacular links-style course that channels the heathland style landscapes of Ireland and Scotland. Designed by Roger Rulewich, the longtime lead design associate for Hall of Fame designer Robert Trent Jones Sr., the award-winning course occupies 250 acres across a scenic plateau. Take in the tranquil atmosphere as you meander through open meadows and rolling farmland, and enjoy 360-degree views of the Wallkill River. After your round, enjoy a drink, a bite to eat, and some authentic bagpipe music at the Celtic-inspired Owenโs Pub.

Course is absolutely pretty as a picture. Maybe it was the deeper shades of green in the design that caught and held my eye. Really loved it. Took a few holes to get my tempo sorted back to Masters level, then the greens really started killing me (pin on 7th in Rd1 !!!) but interspersed those moments of flat stick stupidly with some wicked putts in rounds 1 and 2 and a few good approaches when I wasn't in between clubs, going -7 and -8. Had a few off power approaches that worked spot on which was nice. Rd 3 started slow but got going late on front 9. Dropped a 41ft bomb (2 ft uphill) on 11th. Ended up -6 but still had some shockers on the greens. Rd4 was just crap until the back 9...maybe it was the gentler winds and softer/slower conditions!!?!?!?!? Anyway, got it going on the back 9 with 5 birds and a -4. -25 total with lots of putts in there. Plenty of 3 putts and maybe a 4 putt in there as well I think. Enjoy this beauty of a course. Cheers
