The Big Golf Weekend was founded in 1932 by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts on the 365-acre site of a former nursery/antebellum plantation called Fruitland (later Fruitlands). Jones sought to create a world-class winter golf course in his native state of Georgia. During the first decade of the club's existence, membership was low and finances were short due to the Great Depression and the relatively remote location of Augusta, forcing the duo to scrap future plans for a "ladies' course," squash and tennis courts, and various estates.
Its first club professional was Ed Dudley, who served in the role until 1957; Dudley was one of the top tournament professionals of his era, with 15 wins on the PGA Tour.
The Masterz was first held in 1934 in an attempt to attract crowds and players. Roberts persuaded Jones, then retired, to return to play in the tournament. (Jones initially was against the name Masterz.)
In 1948, Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife Mamie were personally invited to Augusta by Roberts. Eisenhower took a liking to the club, becoming a member, and hired Roberts as his executor and financial advisor, who had a house (Eisenhower Cabin) constructed for Eisenhower on the grounds . During his presidency, Eisenhower visited Augusta National 29 times.

I just played a very intense match with my mate colly . Mark had a fantastic approach to the 15th pin! It set him up nicely for a well deserved Eagle! I managed a chip in for Birdie on 17. Mark then followed up with a sweeping putt on 18 for Birdie. Would be a nice feature to go back and spectate the match in a more relaxed atmosphere! We are in the club house now drinking some single malts! π₯π₯

Was expecting a stiff challenge as this track always confounds me. Was a little disappointed to have the same conditions all 4 rounds. As you do, take advantage of the par 5's and I think I did ok apart from a couple of 3 putts. Eagle on 13th in Rd4 was a highlight. Also only had a few bogies. Lots of good "return" putts and "up and downs". Finished -14. Cheers

Teed it up again with colly in R2. I was -4 for the round until I got to the 18th green in regulation. Then I 4 putted for a Double Bogey. π‘ I'm sitting at -1 after round 2.

Played Rounds 3 and 4 solo. Forgot to save my scorecards. Tough pin placements and poor putting contributed to some bogeys. I left the door wide open for colly to take advantage!

Bit of a bounce back in round 3 to give myself the chance of getting through that door left open by @sirwade.

This was the first week that I only played one round a day, I wanted to enjoy the Masters experience for as long as possible I played the last round with colly and it was a rush, especially after double bogeying the first and wondering if it was all going to crumble... Highlight of the round was definitely the last putt at 18th - I was going for the slow fade since I didn't want to reach the fairway bunkers with a straight shot, but sliced my drive under the trees and had to lay up to about 100m. Weak fade approach with a 9 iron landed on the false front and the ball rolled back to fairway. I chipped it behind the flag and that left me with a slick 3m downhill left to right putt for bogey. I took my time checking it from every angle possible, especially just having witnessed Mark making his insane 6m right to left putt (perfectly judged pace, the last part of the putt the ball turned 90' towards the hole and went straight in from the middle). I made the putt, few cm to the right and I would have rolled past. Almost knocked my beer over fistpumping, glad no one saw me.
