We are in California and Santa Cruz to play this weeks tournament on Pasatiempo Golf Club.
Pasatiempo Golf Club opened in 1929 and was designed by famous Alister MacKenzie - and according to MacKenzie, he claimed this was his best layout even better than Augusta National or Cypress Point. Beware of the greens this week!

Definitely some questionable pins in round 1 on some big slopes. My guess is those are orange/red..

My guess is those are orange/red.. have some of the hole locations on some very difficult spots, and the greens on this course are very challenging - though I never play with grids and only see the grids when I am in the designer and setting hole locations on my own recreations, there are no pins I've encountered on this course that is in itself on a big slope - but some are very close to big slopes. Like the superintendent says - if they have 11 on the stimp, they have very few spots for hole locations on these greens. So the norm on this course is slower greens. I did argue with myself on how fast I dare set the greens this week - and yepp, I do expect some of you might get frustrated on some holes. |

Played very well in the first round, and hit a very good tee shot on the 18th - but it was just a tad too short which has often been the case for me in practice rounds here. But can't be anything but pleased with the round.  |

Struggled more in round 2. Missed several slopes to get very long putts, like the 3rd where I also was too slow on my first putt for a nasty double - and I also was nowhere near the level of putting as I was in the first.  |

I had a rough start. I was hitting the wrong side of the slopes or blew past the hole with a slope that took my ball off of the green, lol.
But I did like the course. I’ll be ready for Round 2.
