We can hop over the fence from Muirfield to this week’s venue.Renaissance is right next door but is a new kid on the block compared to most links courses and has already hosted two Scottish Opens.

Played Rounds 1 & 2 on Renaissance Club. I hit a bad shot on the par 3 #9. Set me up for a double bogey. I finished +2 for the round. I was playing decent in R2 until I got to the par 3 #11. See the videos below on how to get a double bogey when your birdie shot lands an inch from the cup. I thought some of the pin placements were a little questionable, but this made no sense with a low wind round.   Birdie chip on Par 3 #11 Ensuing Par putt on par 3 #11 |

Good fun but I’ve played a few of this designers courses and he has not got a scooby when it comes to placing pins, gets a bit Micky mouse at times which when combined with the harder short game tempo now it equals lots of shots! Anyone getting it under par yet?

@sirwade .Sorry my fault I just don’t get the time to check out every pin placement 🙁 Mark, it's not your fault. No one could expect you to play all 4 pin sets then pick 2 pin sets to play. The designer missed the mark with the pins. |

Anyone getting it under par yet? That's a shame! The course is nice except for pin placements. If you don't count my double bogey for the bad pin I would be (-1) lol. 😜 |

It does baffle me why a designer would go to all that hard work recreated a real course then put pins in such unrealistic places. I don't think any of us have the time to test every hole, not very often we get bad pins. Those two videos I could imagine Wade's frustration and trying not to laugh. The second video the ball was an inch away from hitting Wade's foot when it rolled back, which is a 2 stroke penalty btw 😉 |

Round 1 and playing with paddyjk19 . Shot of the day was his hybrid from the beach (the real beach) just clearing the cliffs to a couple of yards of the green. Some funky greens, hehe. I guess it is un-smoothened lidar since even the fairway here and there are a little edgy. Not unplayable at all, a little more polish would be better, said the player who never made a course.  I had some bad first putts on many greens and that cost me a couple of strokes. Other than that, happy with my game and answer Paddy's questions above with a yes, I am under par. So far... A par in the newest swing era really feels like an accomplishment now.  |

I also thought the textures were a little glaring so the course didn’t feel natural compared to how nice Muirfield was last week. I’ve seen the designer on FB charging people to make courses and is finishing a course a week which in my book is way too fast |

If you can also do under par in round two with those pin placements we will have to get you a very big trophy and blazer to wear |

I played both rounds in +6, so +12 for the tournament. Tee to green was not that bad. But on the greens I lost too many shots. Most due to bad putting. With greens and pin placements like that you should be extra careful, which I was not.

Enjoyed a ding dong battle with steady Eddie in round 1.Last couple of holes was the only difference between us 🏌️

@sirwade. I’ll trade you my triple for your double on 11 in round 2 🤪.Played it in almost identical fashion but took one extra putt to get the ball to stay at the hole.Finished with a 2 round total of 5 under 👍🍻🍻
