From Cypress Point we head up the road on 17-Mile Drive to Pebble Beach Golf Links (Anders' Cobble Beach GL (Tour)). Unanimously rated the No. 1 Public Course in the Country. Pebble Beach hosted its sixth U.S. Open in 2019, more than any other course over the last 50 years. Future championships include a first U.S. Womenβs Open in 2023, and a seventh U.S. Open in 2027. Expected course conditions/weather for this week has greens at around medium on the Stimpmeter and a touch of wind for the opening round. Prime for scoring. As the rest of the week conditions will speed up each day into the weekend as it will be breezy along the Monterey Coastline drying out the greens. Combination of weather and a premium for hitting fairways and greens should be a solid test for one's golf game leading into the next week's USE Major, the US Open at Torrey Pines.

One of my favorite courses and a fantastic recreation by andersnm . Some long difficult par 4's where par feels like a great score. But also par 5's which you can birdie. Steady play with some nice chip-ins. Satisfied with -1.

Let's get this party started. It's a beautiful day to head out to Cobble Beach and get R1 finished. I played well on the front 9 with a highlight of an approach on the par 5 #6 (posted in shots of the week). It left me a short putt for Eagle. I was 3 under at the turn. The back 9 played much tougher for me but managed to shoot even par. -3 after the first round.

Thanks @sirwade. I also like the direction my game is going a lot;-). Mostly I hit the ball fairly straight now, which gives me birdie opportunities. I just have to avoid the big scores I still sometimes make. That is mostly because of bad partial pitch shots. But in this round I could avoid those shots. When I avoid those shots I feel I am able to break par on any course. Your score of -3 is also very good by the way. I still have some way to go to get consistent scores like that, but I feel I am on the right track getting there.

Went +1, +2, +3, +4 for +10 overall. Got worse as the course got harder. I was having a goddam beach party this week.....sand sand everywhere. First couple of rounds, don't know how many putts and chips ended on the lip of the hole. Had a few shocker holes in there as well. Roll on next week. Cheers

First round and playing with andersnm and SimChars1968 . Oh boy this is an exhausting course. I don't know how many times I exhaled in pure relief when the ball did not head in the wrong direction. Very happy with a -1 70, but it is getting tougher I see. Anders impressed with very good and steady drives with the Thunder & Lightning Boomstick Big Titleist. SimChars1968 had his own way to a par at the 10th. Hit a short swing drive that bounces out of the rough and barely reach the fairway. Hit another drive on to the green and hang the birdie putt on the lip. Very entertaining!

I was paired up with colly for the second round. Every shot was pressure packed. This course and these conditions are very tough. I was grinding it out and got it to -5. Then one bad tee shot on #14 left me with a double bogey. Mark played steady throughout the round. He almost holed out from the green side bunker for an eagle on #18. It left him with a very short putt for birdie. On the positive side for me I didn't lose any shots from the first round. I am still -3 at the halfway mark. I did see a special guest appearance on the PS4 leaderboard from hammers1man.

I decided to finish the tournament at Cobble Beach. R3 started out well. I got it to -6 until I got on a bogey train. I finished R3 at +3 to leave me at Even par for the tournament. Round 4 I played steady until the last few holes when my putter turned Ice Cold. I finished R4 at +3 as well.

I did have a practice round on Anders' default settings, I was 3 over on the front 9 and 3 under on the back for E. It is nice to have a version of PB with some bite, great course from Anders

First Round in. Decent start with a few birdie chances. Lipped in a 36 footer for birdie on the 3rd. Was going well and grinding out pars until the 8th. Absolutely a mental error and poor swing for my approach. Didn't commit to it and off she went into the Pacific Ocean. Clutch sand save on the next hole as it could've gone south real quick. Perfectly judge partial PW to that tucked pin on the 11th from the rough to a foot and just kept building on that. Well struck shots were rewarded and putter followed. Grip slipped on the 17th tee shot which left a tough sand save from above the hole for bogey. Chipped in on 18th from the back of the green. A sigh of relief to get it back to Even which was my first goal. Then to get into red figures was a bonus. Tied with SimChars1968 at -2 for the current First Round PC lead.

Round 2 on this masterpiece from andersnm . Played with the runaway winner of The Australian PGA Championship, the Australian Ace Tuffguts . And I have never seen one leave so many putts and chip shots hanging on the lip. That should have been a lower score with a little more luck. I was striking the ball well, sometimes a little lucky and sometimes a bad break. Sometimes they took each other out on the same hole. Hit a short, bad drive on the 9th leaving me a 3W to the green. Pushed it a little and it caught the edge and rolled down the cliffs. Hit a pitch and hoping in would get up there around the green. It stopped 6 feet from the hole and I holed it for a par... On the 18th my drive was not far from the tree on the fairway. But I bettered myself and hit the tree short of green. Surprised I managed to come in with a 68 and -4 halfway.
