Third Round in. Good to see Paddy back on the PC Leaderboard as I had a feeling he'd make his way to Monterey after Castle Stuart π. Decent front nine. A few putts that just missed. Made the turn and the short game took over. Quite a few chips in for birdies. Had a partial wedge into the 13th (I think), hit the pin and was left with a tap in. Played a partial driver pin high on the 16th. But misjudged the chip and couldn't convert the par save. In the fairway on 17 with PW in hand. Just about the perfect yardage. But loss of concentration and fanned it right. Didn't want to watch the replay before the Pacific Ocean took it away. Absolutely slippery putt down the hill on the last that I really wanted. Can't complain from that position on the green. Still things to work on. Need to cut down on the mistakes. Too many strokes given away in relation to par this week. One more to go though πβ³

Final round and once again enjoying the company of skunky . I admit I envy his ability to hit partial shorts on full swing shots. I have a strong tendency to quick hook those. I could not find my swing or short game until I hit the back 9. I made several mistakes judging chips and pitches. On the 16th I had a downhill pitch and hit it as I wanted, but the ball did not roll down the hill at all. Even before the round I had decided to hit an iron off the tee on 18. Hit a fine 3 iron and still ended up in the rough, blinded behind a tree... But 4 rounds under par and I can't complain on the whole. -16 and the temporary lead in the PC clubhouse.

Well, its back to the 'ol drawing board! After weeks of working my way down to par levels for tournament play i can start all over again. I'm sure its the same for most. Looks like everybody got cut down a couple of sizes after the swing reset. I'm all over the place. Left, right, short, long, its a roller coaster bonanza and total bewilderment. Its like the real thing but even worse LOL! I shot 76/81/83/80 and i really dont know how i even did that! After playing some more rounds i am starting to figure out what i am doing. My usual '11 oclock' swing has now kinda moved to a '1 oclock' swing, pushing shots to the right. After playing so long and depending on a '11 oclock' hit it must be a mental block of some kind being afraid of going further then 11 oclock, which results in big loss of distances now. Across the board all shots suffer now (except the putter) and there is nowhere to hide. As things stand now, coming weeks will be a grind and hitting 80's looks to be the norm.

I thought I was on a roll after round 1 but round 2 and 3 have brought me back to earth with a bang! Keep making quadruple on the long par 3!

Definitely gaining at least one stroke on the field with a par. I'd walk off that hole with a 3 and run to the next tee in a heartbeat!

Had to make a Final Round charge with Mike the current Clubhouse leader setting a solid score for the week. Put myself in position with a good front nine. The start of the back nine was pressure filled but a lot of fun. I'll post details later. I need a beer first! πΊπβ³π€

I could not keep up my good form from Scotland. I played my rounds in +3,+7, E en +4 for a total of +14. In the third round I was -5 after 16. But then I made a 9 at 17. I donβt even remember if I 5 or 6 putted there from 5 to 6 feet. My play was overall simply not sharp enough. But some hopeful signs that when I am a bit sharper my scores should be better.

The story of round 3 is all about one hole, from the scorecard you can probably guess which one π Hole 7 of course.Hit what I thought was a good tee shot only to get up there & find my ball slightly long on the fringe 6 yds from the hole but crucially above it.Two chips & three putts later my tournament was over π€― I was quite pleased I managed to play steadily for the rest of the round at least π

Round 1 very scrappy on the front and every single shot slow tempo on the back. I actually found pitching easier than bunker shots, looks like they have upped the difficulty on chipping and splash which is a great thing. I got up and down from a bunker once in these 2 rounds. Rather than recalibrate in round 2 I decided to just swing faster and it helped. Missed 4 birdie putts under 7 foot, not good. Lovely course again.
