Round 3 and once again up for a lesson with paddyjk19 . Since it was a windy day, I changed my driver to a more forgiving and short Wilson 9 degree. It turned out the wind was not that bad at all, but I was driving really well with the Wilson. A few mistakes led to 2 bogies. The first was 3 misjudgments in a row and it was close to a double bogie. The other was a pulled tee shot on a par 3. Other than that it mostly was tee - fairway - green and a few putts dropped. Paddy had another good round with the drives a little here and there.

First round was a solid no bogey round! Don't think I've had many of those... Had a lot of good birdie opportunities, but didn't use them. Totally different mindset compared to last week, played pretty safe and found the middle of the green more often than not. Loving the course @sirwade , felt really great to play. Second round was very similar to the first round, played well from tee to green but still left a few putts out there. On the third round I hit some really good approach shots and made more putts overall, plus I also had a chip-in and a pitch-in (!). Time to go all-in on the final round... That last picture was from my third round, tried to ride the wind to that back right pin position, but sliced it towards the water... I have no idea how the ball stayed dry, somebody must have superglued that hill the night before hah. Didn't manage to get up & down, but still happy with a bogey.

Really nice course just couldn't get the putter going. 88% GIR, should be scoring better.

I played my third round in +2. I played solid golf in the wind and made easy pars. On the tenth I sliced my tee-shot in the water. I had to go back to the tee and sliced my tee-shot again, just this time I was smart enough to aim extremely to the left. I had many putts that came up short just inches from the hole. But in these winds +2 is not too bad. -1 for the tournament now. So I am not catching you yet wimigbg ;-). But I am still satisfied with my score.

Second Round in. Been really pleased with the feel of the putter lately. I've needed it more so the last week to keep rounds together. Really wanted a few of those putts to drop as they just missed. Back to back chip ins on the 3rd and 4th as that got the scoring started. Nice streaks on both nines. Been working on a pitch and run, should've pulled it out of the bag on the 9th. Instead hit the chunk LW that didn't run The 42% FIR felt like 60% in this round. Need to improve that in the next as it looks like the weather is going to pick up. -9 at the halfway mark.

Final round in Mexico and after a carne con chili, it was not the course that was windy. Paired up with paddyjk19 again. He 2 putted from over 100 feet, that's an accomplishment. It did not have a hot putter and had more problems than expected to read the greens in the shadows. But over all, -14 after 4 rounds I'll take without complaints. This is what you have to aim for on the PC side.

This week was -again- a frustrating one on the course. Played 4 solid rounds, drove the ball very well (76% fairways) but left myself a bag full of longish a/o pressure putts for par. Sooner or later you are going to pay a price for that. So i leaked some here and there. Had a couple of (very makeable) eagle putts but no go. The one eagle i did make was a bonus (40ft!) . So, improving overall with 74/72/73/71, but i have lots of work to do to get closer to the pins. My Bridgestone (Tour B JGR HF2) irons are so powerfull i still have to recheck some distances on these suckers . Cant be disappointed with my putter because i made great saving putts for par. Its my approach game which has to improve and i blame my irons for that LOL . Lovely course this week. El Cameleon played great en conditions were near perfect for me. Am still surprised to see a small leaderboard as USE is a fabulous set-up.

I used to play with powerful irons as well, but find it much easier over all with more forgiving irons and sacrifice length and live with gaps. I have my gaps between 174-197-215-248. I’ll have to adjust or accept not going for some distances. It works very well for me. And well played, the results will surely get better soon. :j

My gap of 117-140 can be bridged a bit by hitting a low PW.

Well, i played with Taylor Made Sim Max irons (4-9) for a long while and they performed very well. I nailed the numbers on these clubs. Its only because i played with Quade (skunky), who is one of my longtime buddies, who was playing with the Bridgestones. I saw him outhitting me by at least 10 meters on every club which got my attention. After some back and forth i decided to buy the set and try them out. They have pretty much the same specs as the TM's but are just way longer. That sold me.
I am comfortable with these new irons though, as they perform and look great, but i have not nailed the numbers as well as i did with the TM's. I'm still a bit to long on most shots. As i am a r/l hitter (bit fast) it adds more distance on every full shot, which means that the numbers i have on my distances are a bit off. I shall have to put in some more time on the range to recheck these numbers.

Joined drummin_guy to play last round last night. Don't really know what to say about this round, other than everything I tried to do, worked out... Probably my hottest round in this game, with or without USE settings. I recorded the whole round hoping to share clips if I hit some great shots, but later just decided the upload the whole thing if somebody wants to check it out.

I have mixed feelings about my final round. My driver was a bit off today, but I held my game together with my approach shots and putting. On one hand some nice birdies but on the other hand also some ugly bogeys. Well I guess it is a good thing that I am not entirely satisfied with shooting -1 for the round;-). But overall very satisfied that I finished a USE tournament for the first time under par (-2).

You and Phil Collins were striking the ball well! Your approach on #7 within 11cm for a tap in Eagle was crazy! I'm surprised you don't leave the pin in when lining up your putts, then remove it. The pin lean helps me read the severity of the break. But whatever works for you keep doing it. You have been playing great lately! -26 will be a tough score to beat!
