The spirit and ethos of the Ultra Sim Experience is to play and simulate the real game of golf as close as possible.
To achieve this, we have some guidelines that we expect you to follow. The game is very good, but in any video golf game, there will be things that we consider unrealistic. That is the nature of video golf games.
All settings in the society is set to have the most realistic settings. The swing difficulty is set to a level that gives us the most realistic stats compared to the real PGA Tour. We do not play on the hardest difficulty just because we can if that difficulty is giving us unrealistic bad results.
But not everything can be tuned in difficulty settings in the society – so here is a list of the things you need to do yourself while you play:
Follow cam must be turned off.
When you play golf in real life, you stand and watch your ball fly into the distance. So we must turn the follow cam off for the most realistic view of the ball flight. More importantly, you don’t get to see how the ball rolls on the green to get a reading of the green. When you do get a fantastic shot, and want to see that shot in replay – you may do so at the next tee. You can also at that time save the replay and perhaps make a video and share the shot with the rest of the society.
If you want to play with ghost balls, you must have turnbased marked in the game.
This is the only way to have a realistic flight. Also non turn based ghost balls play out of turn.
Swing Vibration must be turned off.
We consider this an aid. There is nothing in real life telling you when you have achieved the correct partial that you intend to do.
Do not chip from bunkers.
There can be times in real life where a chip shot from a bunker may be the correct shot, but this is from a bunker with very little sand and a hard surface. Chipping from sand is very hard to do in real life. When have you seen a pro chip from a sand bunker?
Do not use splash from outside a sandbunker.
The splash shot is a shot where you hit behind the ball. This is the main shot from a bunker as sand is suited for this shot unless the surface in the bunker is hard and has little sand. This is not the case in professional golf as we are simulating. Outside sand however, this shot is very hard to do, and carries a very huge risk so you very seldom see this. The game do not have the realistic risk outside sand – so it becomes unrealistic.
The flop shot is a risky shot in real life.
The main approach shot in real life golf is the pitch shot. A flop is rarely used because it carries risk. Both the pitch and the flop shot has unfortunately some problems when it comes to realism in the game and this is seen on uneven lies. If you are on a downhill or uphill slope – the game don’t add or subtract enough loft on these shots.
On an uphill shot, a flop shot is a representation of a pitch, and on a downhill lie, the pitch is the best representation. So to get the most realistic shots – use a flop on an uphill lie, and a pitch on a downhill lie.
Use a full swing or partial full swing instead of pitch.
In real life, you want to swing a full swing, or a partial ¾ swing if you can do that. Pitching with a low lofted club like a 7 iron is unrealistic. Pitch shots are usualy done with a sand or lob wedge.
The exception to this, is if you want to hit a punch shot – then you can choose a 5 or 6 iron, deloft the club to get the ball out low.
Shot feedback turned off.
To get the sim experience, it is highly recommended to turn off shot feedback. You can see on the ball flight and result what you have done. You will get used to get the feedback from ball flight and result pretty soon if you choose to do so.
Pin marker turned off.
This is recommended also for the experience. We do have difference in how well we can see the pin on screen. If you want, you can also turn this on when needed and else have it off.
