I think this is one of Cathal's recreations. I have watched quite a few pictures and videos of this course, and I can say that alot of the elevations on the course is quite inaccurate. But, elevations without lidar data is hard, right @sirwade ? For example, one of the most famous holes on this course is the 9th - and in real life, you have uphill and can see the fairway with ease to the hill. But other than that, it is a great recreation.  Absolutely! It is very hard. I have really enjoyed designing my last two Lidar courses!  |

I have no idea if that one is more accurate, but I find it better looking. Enjoying both. I played it now. This is also not lidar as it is not done on PC. But yeah, I think it looks more accurate - tee shot on the 9th for example - but without lidar data it is really hard to get the elevations correct. I like the textures and the choice for grass. I also like the choice for bushed - but I think he should have buried the bushes a bit and it would look even better. However, he has been a little bit sloppy and planted long grass on fairway and also green texture (17th). I also find the texture transition on the water on the 17th a bit unrealistic looking at it close. Looks better from afar. Anyway, a very good recreation and I agree that I prefer the look on texture and use of bushes and grass on this version. |
