Thank you for the recommendations. Within Temptation seems to be the only band of those three that may end up in my library. Their album Hydra has promise.

It's more accurate to say I like *some* of Nightwish's songs. Metal (Progressive or Symphonic or Thrash or <insert modifier here>) is a fringe listening experience for me and I tire of it easily. Oddly, I feel the same about Classical music, although in general I like it much more than Metal. But I can only listen to a little bit of Classical from a small range of composers before I'm bored and want to move on to something else. If I listen to small selection of Disturbed, In This Moment, Nirvana, Nightwish or Soundgarden, then I have enough to last me for a little while.

Just want to add this is a music thread to share music, obscure tastes to those classic tunes. Post the music you love and that might just be a discovery for someone else 😁

Was just going to say, I've not joined in yet, as you guys were all sharing stuff you have in common, and it's not really my bag, so was letting you get on with it

I will at some point share a couple of my tunes (electronic stuff) just so you can see out of interest, but I also have VERY broad tastes, I have a "talent" for almost always being able to join in a conversation on music, coz I'll have some knowledge or a couple of tunes that I like from that genre.

So I'll post something I think you guys might like as well at some point

I can challenge Paul and everyone with this one (I think this is not everyone's cup of tea.. but the album Portal of I are incredible if you like this)

Electronic is a wide genre.. so not sure what your into - but here is what I truly like:

It's a VERY wide genre, and I have, at one time or another, been into most areas of it! I was into trance and hard dance in it's heyday around late 90s and early 00s, not so much anymore. I think for me, I like electronic music that is created in a more analogue way or, if it is digital, more minimal. Here's a couple of old-school trance tracks off the top of my head that i really like.

so the electronic stuff i'm really into is techno and house. I'm a bedroom DJ and have been for nerly 20 years since i went to uni and started clubbing. Still go clubbing in my old age every now and again! And go to festivals and stuff.

When i first started clubbing, I was into crazy heavy techno, DJs/producers like Dave Clarke and Umek. I also liked and enjoyed house and drum and bass. But in recent years, I've really started loving house the most, namely deep, soulful and disco infused house from chicago and detroit (or that influence, if not made there.)

I could go on, my "favourites" is probably a list off 200+ tracks! I have around 1500 vinyls, maybe more by now.

I'm also massively into rock/indie and folk, and loads of other stuff. I'll do a post about that another time
