Founded in 1893 by a Scottish Regiment of British Army officers, this course is a perfect example of a true Irish links with its towering sand dunes, rolling fairways and greens. Lahinch Golf Club is a links golf course in western Ireland, in the town of Lahinch on the northwest coast of County Clare in northern Munster. It is situated approximately thirty-two kilometres (20 mi) northwest of the town of Ennis. In 2016, Golf Digest ranked the Old Course at Lahinch #65 on their list of the world's greatest golf courses.[2] It was founded 129 years ago in 1892 by Alexander W. Shaw and Richard J. Plummer, officials of Limerick Golf Club. They laid out an 18-hole course, the original course had ten holes on each side of the road.[3] It has often been described as the "St. Andrew's" of Ireland.[4] Lahinch Golf Club The original links was laid out by Old Tom Morris; Alister MacKenzie, who co-designed Augusta National Golf Club, redesigned the Old Course and extended the links in 1927 for a fee of £2000. Lahinch is actually two 18-hole courses, the Old Course, is between the road and the sea, situated at the opposite side of the road from the Old Course is the Castle Course. The Castle Course is a flatter links named after the ruins of a nearby castle tower that stands to the north of the course.[5] One unusual feature of the Old Course is the presence of goats which are allowed to roam freely across the course. They were originally owned by a caddie who lived near the course, and in 1956 a goat was incorporated into the club's logo.[6] Lahinch Golf Club is home to the South of Ireland Championship, an amateur golf tournament which began in 1895. Notable winners include Joe Carr in 1969, Darren Clarke in 1989, Paul McGinley in 1991 and Graeme McDowell in 2000. Ireland's Pádraig Harrington finished runner up on two occasions.[citation needed] Lahinch Golf Club hosted the 2019 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, which was played from 4–7 July. The tournament was hosted by Paul McGinley and won by Jon Rahm.

Round 1 complete at the Irish Open. What another beautiful course. Today the course was a beast with snarling teeth! After having it to (-3) a couple of bogeys set me back to (-1) which I will gladly take on this course and conditions! Greens are very unforgiving but fair. I will post a couple of shots from my round in shots of the week.

Can the event get scheduled on XB?
I know I haven't been as consistent playing each week.
If it's to much, let me know.. I know the XB players have all but vanished as I seem to be one of the only ones still playing somewhat regularly..

R2 was another grind. Conditions were a little more favorable but the greens were still tough. I shot -2 for the round and -3 at the halfway mark.

He is out of town for work until further notice.

As Wade mentioned Will is away at work so doesn't have access to his Xbox only his gaming laptop. We'd invite you to the Xbox admin Jeff so you can set it up but only the society president al can ad admin to the society in this game. The settings for the tournament are below if you want to set up the rounds on your Xbox and you can post up your scores here so I can add them to the multi platform leaderboard.

Round 1 was a challenge. The wind, the blind shots and the greens. I hardly remember anything but fighting for every par, me and davec187

I finished up the Irish Open. R3 I couldn't take advantage of the calm conditions and shot even par. Went into the fourth round still at -3 for the tournament. Very High winds made the course very difficult in R4. I ended up shooting +4 for the round and +1 for the tournament.

R1 in the books. Besides those two bogeys. Played well in that middle stretch of holes. Just not as consistent again with my feel on the pitch shots needed to save those pars. For me personally this course is probably one of my favorites on that side of the Atlantic along with St. Andrews. There's just something about it. Definitely on the golf bucket list. You can hit good shots but sometimes you are at the mercy of the sloping fairways and contours of the greens. Glad we are getting some practice during the week with the Linksland courses. Solid way to start the week at The Irish Open, although Match Play memories returned when andersnm beat me here

I have now discovered an art for the 8 foot birdie putt miss also missed a 4 footer and a 4 footer in the extra tournament, funny like real life putting streaks come and go. Tbh some very good pitch shot recoveries and a 30 foot birdie putt on 18 were the only highlights.
