Driving home for Christmas 🏌️🎄 (for me anyway).We head back to my neck of the woods for Christmas to the magnificent Hillside Golf Club in Southport where the British Masters was played in 2019 ,enjoy.

Very quiet in the Colly household this year due to coved restrictions so managed to play some Christmas Day golf at the beautiful Hillside Links 😍

Tough to find some tempo early on. Must've been the Christmas lunch and the ensuing food comatose with a nap  Two tee shots found hazards. But the new wedges really helped save some shots there. Quite narrow fairways in those winds. Solid back nine. Chipped in for eagle up the hill on the 17th.  Low stinger under the tree, through the wind and... |

First round - I was playing good golf. Almost followed @pakalolo77, but I missed the fairway on the last par 5, and got some pretty bad lie in the heavy rough. I really like this course - plenty of risk and reward.  |

Before this round I switched to a more forgiving driver. Guess what? Started with 2 drives OB and the 3rd I aimed so far right I almost reached the fairway of the adjacent hole. 2 over after that and I enjoyed every moment, the only birdie was a pitch(!) from 19 yards. A whole week of links golf, a very happy chappy here.  |

As the idiot I am, getting revenge at once seemed like a good idea. Avoiding OB on the 1st I happily was on my way with just a bogey. Unfortunately very fast greens was not great for my putting. Missed more 4-footers than I can remember. The drive OB I saved for the 17th.  |

Really struggled with finding some tempo in my swing for this second round at the Linksland. The four jack from 10 feet on the 2nd didn't help either. Felt like I was playing ping pong there.  The golf gods giveth, taketh, giveth and really couldn't make up their mind in this round and showed in my play. Salvaged the round with this shot on the last. Golf......  |

@pakalolo77 very impressive first round! andersnm as well. You both beat me that round, pretty sure I was -2. Couldn’t do anything. I had an easier time in rd 2 and went -8. Drove in the water both rounds on one of the early holes...either 4 or 5. The first round I had no idea the water was even there, the second round I remembered it was there.... after I went in it 🙃 |
