We travel from Sweden to Kløfta in Norway to play the Garmin Norwegian Cup at Miklagard Golf.
Miklagard Golf was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and opened in 2001. The clubs logo and names on holes are taken from Norse mythology. The course was designed to be a championship course to host big events.

The course looks so peaceful but it's play is entirely different lol.

And the course presented in an understandable language. Sorry I laughed at the Norwegian falling in the biathlon relay. Well, not so sorry actually, haha.

I decided to get R1 in at Miklagard. Very beautiful but tough course! I had it to -3 but back to back bogeys on #16 and #17 dropped me to -1. A chip in for birdie on the 18th brought me to -2 for the round!

My first round was poor - and the 11th was the prime example of my poor short game this round. +6 after too many misses from 4-5 feet, bad chipping etc.

Great start with two birdies and an eagle. Some really good par saves on the back. Especially from the woods on 14. The 16th is probably one of my favorite holes on this course, when you hit the fairway there . Had another good chance for eagle but just slid past. Overall a good start to this event at -6.

Second round was a bit better in short game, but still made too many mistakes - and found water on the 12th drive for a double. Approach on the 9th goes to the "shot of the week" capture.

I am happy with round 1. Could have been much worse. Many par putts dropped from 6-12 ft. And not to mention the lucky pitch from a ravine on the 18th to a couple of feet. Funny, I got the yips, but not the putting variant, but the chipping one. Back to the training ground. Played with andersnm since I know the disadvantage of playing a home course. Tried to cheer him up, but my putts lipping in didn't help.

Round 2 was ho hum. 2 birdies and 2 bogeys to finish the round at even par. I'm sitting at -2 at the halfway mark.

Third round - and I can't get anything going this tournament so far. 10% medium putting - and that is the key to my problems on Miklagard. Highlight of this round was a 28 foot downhiller on the 17th.

Fourth round - at last I get some birdies, chip ins, and general feels better. But, it was a bit of a roller coaster in score as I kept getting bogeys. 1 stroke behind hoosierhoops24 .. and it was so close at the end where I felt I missed that opportunity on the 16th with a poor bunker shot ..

My card for Round 1. All in all a decent round, shame about the dropped shot late on, but in the red numbers.

Off and away for my second round. Came out striking the ball quite well. Birdied 3 out of the first 4 holes. With a nice 24 footer up the hill on the par 5 4th. Had some really good opportunities (10 feet or closer) but couldn't quite see the subtle breaks on the Miklagard greens. Got too aggressive and short sided myself on 14 above the pin with my approach. On the par 5 16th, tee shot flared out right and into the water. Almost saved par with a slinging fade with shot shaper with the 3 wood. Gave away a two strokes there and should've been at least a birdie. Still gave myself opportunities on 17 and 18 to gain those back. But just missed on those. Still into red figures for R2 and -9 at the halfway mark.

Round 2 and +3 on the par 5s. -2 on the par 5s in round 1 and that's the difference. The triple bogey on 13th was the funny one. Pushed the drive 30 degrees right and landed in the middle of the very big forest. Too dense to hit it to the fairway, so pitched in the other direction. Only to hit it to short and found myself in the same spot after three shots as after the drive. And so the circus continued. The first 12 holes was good. Played away from my weaknesses (pitching and driver). Hit spoon where driver was not needed and that worked very well. Just need more stamina.
