Donald Ross Course at French Lick

I have restarted my work on the Donald Ross Course at French Lick, IN that began in the early days of TGC 2019. I ended up postponing this as I worked on Colonial Country and Austin Country Club, but I've found some time and motivation to try to finish this course for 2K21. The course opened in 1917 and played host to the 1924 PGA Championship won by Walter Hagen. It went through numerous changes over the years, but was eventually restored in 2007 to its original design as intended by Ross. I grew up about 30 miles away and played this course once in high school (a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away) and was able to return there in the summer of 2019 to play it again. Not visually spectacular like Austin CC that I've recreated but it's one of my favorite IRL courses. Its best attribute is the difficulty of the greens. I'm trying to capture the look and feel of the course as best I can. No timetable on a publishing date yet.



















It's very much a work in progress with a lot still to be done, but for those of you that might be wondering if I'm still designing the answer is yes, I just work at a painfully slow pace.

Jeff, this Don Ross course looks good, and judging by your work on Colonial and Austin, it will be a gem! Austin is my favorite match play course in the game. Superb work.

Do you have any plans to port Colonial?

Sorry to be slow to reply Jeff, I just noticed this post. I had some trouble with a lot of wavy transitions between textures when I ported Colonial over to 2K21, and it's going to take more time than anticipated to fix and update the course itself. As a result, I decided to resume my work on the Ross Course, which I started quite some time ago, but stopped in order to do Colonial and Austin. I do plan to work on Colonial eventually though, I just don't have a timetable at the moment. I also have put my WIP of TPC Craig Ranch on hold while I finish the Ross course. They are doing a fair amount of renovation in preparation for hosting the Byron Nelson next year and I haven't decided how I want to handle that. As of now I don't know how extensive the renovations are, but I've heard it's quite an upgrade to the course. I would like for it to be as accurate as possible but I don't know if I'll be able find out what work has been done. I appreciate the kind words on Austin and Colonial.
