Not sure if we get this on the main tour or on the links land but we HAVE to play this course. It’s my new favourite course on the game and has such a rich interesting history if you read the thread over at TGCT.

The problem with this course - is that this course do not exist. If I read correctly - the original course that has been attempted to be remade (also with fantasy tees) was ruined in world war II (though world war I and the depression also made it's mark on the course). The current Lido Golf Club is designed by Robert Trent Jones and is very different.

So - in my opinion - this is not a real course and do not fit in our main tour.

Time travel as realistic? Sorry. One thing is recent changes that we don't make because of "old" lidar data - another to play a course that has not existed since 1940..  this is so unrealistic for me, and sorry to say - it is also of no interest to me as a golfer.

We will have to agree to disagree as this was an exceptional course when it existed and was truly iconic. Nobody said we have to time travel, I just felt it would be a pure golfing experience for the society

I would also say I am not judging the original course, or the remake of it in the game.

The course may have been the greatest ever - a fantasy course could be the greatest ever. Both cases is not an existing real course. I have no problem that others have interest in historical courses (I don't share that interest) - but as long as they no longer exist I don't think they fit for our society that is based on realism. I would have the same opinion on a course that had existed more recently as well. And I also want the courses to be as up to date as possible with regards to changes - but as we know, at least when it comes to lidar data - that is not always possible due to when the data was collected. 
The reason I said time travel - is for the realism part. As a society based on realism first and foremost, playing a course that do not exist is breaking the spirit for me - it requires that we are able to travel in time in order to play the course.

Another thing we could discuss is how realistic it is to play tournaments on very private golf courses as well. But as it is an existing course, I would argue that it could be possible for a big Tour (yeah, we do like to consider our Tour as big right? ) to get access to those. But it could ofcourse be a thing that could be considered - is it realistic that we can play a tournament on this course in real life?

A society where we don’t play Cypress Point, Augusta, Pine Valley etc. Would be a worse society, I’d rather play them then an accessible run of the mill tour course

The point is realism paddy. It is not that many private courses that could be considered out of reach even for the PGA Tour, if any? (For example, the PGA has played on Cypress Point before, and not unrealistic at all that Cypress Point could host PGA Tour events in the future - more unlikly that PGA will play on Pine Valley I would think) The point was only that as we want the society to be as realistic as possible, this also includes the schedule in my opinion. The schedule should be realistic for a Tour that mostly is based on the PGA and European Tour. We did have Pine Valley in the schedule, but unfortunately there is no good version of it in the game.

And speaking of sub-standard recreations; the current version of Kiawah Island is not the best. So if anyone feel the inspiration - this course could do with a better version

What is the in-game name of that course, please? Do you know who designed it? I may have played it. Even so, what about the course disappoints you compared to the real course? I always enjoyed that course in the TW games. Thanks.

The only real version in game so far is Kiawah (Ocean) [PGA '21]. According to TGC Tours, it is recreated by Jaxon MacGeorge. It is made with lidar data.

The "problem" with this version is the total lack of surroundings - so you get these large open areas with nothing in it - and that breaks immersion. It also seems to be some repetive planting with no re-scale and rotation, and I think the general planting could be better done. But it is the surroundings, or the lack of, that is the main problem. It is, as paddyjk19 says - a lack of polish and detail and comes with other lidar recreations that seems to be a bit rushed. I saw how this course looked when he first published it in TGC 2019 - and there where even more problems in the surroundings with the lidar mask with huge cliffs etc. These errors has been fixed to a degree, but the landscape is still nothingness.

And speaking of sub-standard recreations; the current version of Kiawah Island is not the best. So if anyone feel the inspiration - this course could do with a better version

The reason the tour won’t play Cypress Point is the fact they don’t allow black members which is highly controversial in the modern age, obviously.

We have Kiswah down as a major venue this season I believe which isn’t a great choice if you dislike the RCR we have

Yes - and the reason for Kiawah, is that the PGA Championship is being held at that course this season and it was said that we should keep the same locations for majors as in real life. A good alternative, is the new Shinnecock Hills recreation - but then we are not playing the course that is hosting the real life event this year. I don't know what others think of this? Fair point on the Kiawah selection, if the version we have is crap we should avoid but you’re a great delta man so could be your next project ;-)

Yea, unfortunately Cypress is a bit backwards, still are I believe, at least muirfield changed its ways to stay on the open rota, maybe CP will get there eventually because I’d love to see majors there!
