Been doing some research on getting a gaming PC so I can use the course designer with LiDAR. I can see the advantage of using it by the designers here on USE and the great RCRs that they all release with their courses. Was curious for those with gaming setups what are you currently on a desktop or laptop? If I go with a desktop I’d connect it to my 55” 4K tv and would have to get a gfx card to utilize the 4K capabilities. It’ll be used for 2k21 and at the same time investing something that’ll last me awhile as my current laptop is fairly old. I’ve been out of the loop of pc gaming for years now. And started by looking at these: Dell G3 15 Gaming LaptopDell G5 15 Gaming Laptop
Dell G5 Gaming DesktopOpen to any other brands as I’ve heard Lenovo makes good gaming setups as well. I’ve built one before but looking for an out of box setup. Be great to keep the budget down.

I would definitely go for a desktop rather than a laptop Will as you will be getting a much better PC for your budget and you are hooking it up to a 4K TV anyway. I would never go for a company brand pre build, you are basically paying extra because of the name and their advertising. As you are not wanting to build it yourself (the cheapest method) there are good online companies that let you choose the parts and they assemble the PC, pcspecialist.co.uk is a good one here in the UK. I am sure you have similar in the US and PC components are cheaper for you in the US. Also if I was you I would wait a bit as the new Nvidia 30 series cards are just being released and they are a big step up in performance from the 20 series. Wait a bit and you might be able to grab a 2060 at a huge knockdown price. Or see what the new 30 series budget cards are priced at,because they will blow that 1650 super away at a similar price I reckon. The perfect CPU for you would be the Ryzen 3300X but they are so good for the price they are always out of stock. Ryzen 3 is out soon another good reason to sit tight for a bit, a new 5mn processor technology that is looking like it could be great for gaming.AMD Radeon Big Navi graphics cards are on the way soon also My advice is wait a couple of months till after the new graphics cards and cpu's are out. You will be getting a much better PC for your money then I like to monitor PC parts so any advice you need I could give you an idea what parts I would pick with your budget.

Thanks for the feedback/suggestions Paul. I was initially thinking that the desktop would be the best way to go. But the more I thought about it, a laptop was gonna be more practical especially for the space that I’ve currently got. I read/watched a lot of reviews on laptops along with PC parts. I looked on Newegg at first and found a really good bargain on Amazon with these specs. The RTX 2060 was something that I was really looking at to make sure it was included. Along with a 17” screen. I pulled the trigger on this one, prior to reading your post.
9th Gen Intel Core i7-9750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, 17.3" Full HD IPS 144Hz 3ms Display, 16GB DDR4, 256GB NVMe SSD, Gigabit WiFi 5, Backlit Keyboard, AN517-51-76V6
