We travel to Texas and San Antonio to play Valero Texas Open on TPC San Antonio AT&T Oaks course.
This is likely the last tournament before the new game releases. So for that reason - the conditions are challenging for this course with clear weather, fast and firm greens.

First round: huge mistake on the first hole - but managed a brilliant par save. Very happy with the round, but could have 2-3 more birdies on the finishing holes as I missed some very good chances due to slightly misread (though the last 4 foot miss on the 18th is a bit annoying).

Poor opening round for me. I am forcing myself to use the PS4 controller. I've been using the Scuf that resembles the Xbox controller. I couldn't keep it in the fairway. It's going to be a tough tournament for me lol. I love the layout of this course! The pin on the par 3 16th is very well protected lol.

Second round started very good - until I got a really bad streak from 8-11.. really struggled this round in the high winds.

my first round was pretty bad. I tripled the first hole, was off in the rough, then apparently in the heavy rough with the wind in your face meant nothing to the game. After that, had a lot of trouble with the greens. either putted too hard and they rolled 50 ft, or too soft and they broke 50ft on me. pretty course though!

Absolute gem of a course. Love it. Just wish I could play better on it.

I have decided to port this course over to the new game after watching Seamount4life play the front nine on this course in the new game. Reason is the official version of the course had a surpising lack of stonework done on key parts of the course (for example the left side bunker on hole 1) and also lack of long grass... Anyway - round 3: started terrible and struggled on the front nine. Missed several birdie chances - and general struggle. Very good back nine.

Finished up at the Valero Texas Open. I played much better in the last 2 rounds. Starting to get a better feel for the new controller. This course really plays tough!

Fourth round - and a pretty good round with the putter. So I am satisfied. Even for the tournament on these conditions are good for me. Curious as to what Tuffguts can manage here. I know he had -30 on the TST on this course - but I think this should be tougher.

I've always liked the idea of an extreme society, the very toughest courses in the hardest conditions. Unfortunately I'd reckon there'd be very few takers to put themselves through something like that every week.

Lots of under-reads. Sort of greens where prior knowledge of tiers and swales would assist approaches. I just blazed away a lot and ended up the wrong side of the slope and off the green into the rough. Cheers

But yeah, perhaps even more important on these kind of courses with prior knowledge on green undulations and tiers (other examples are Augusta National).
