Sorry to write in a very old thread, but since I now know about you, here’s something about me.
Name: Mikael, Mike or something like that
Country: Sweden, close to Norway and not far from andersnm.
I’m 57 and have mostly been a real-time programmer.
I used to play real golf, but since the kids appeared (a little late in life), I have a time-out. They are old enough for me to start playing, but it just seems hard to get going again. In my best years, my hcp was around 6-7. That’s around 10 in the UK. My first instructing PROs were English/Scottish and they warned, never play a hcp match against a UK player. Not a long hitter, better around the greens. Actually hit splash shots from the fairway with my SW, in no house or parking lot was behind the green.
The golf games I remember are Links386, Jack Nicklaus “something” a long time ago. Then played the beta of Prefect Golf and loved it. Tried TGC and went that way instead. Was interested in how Lidar courses was created and searched for that when I found you here. Since I was already playing like this, but with Pro swing and splash shots, I joined and never looked back. Played some Beer league and TST but not anymore. The satisfaction when I hit a good shot/score this way is waaaay greater that using scout cam, grid etc.
I have not designed a course here, but started on Ystad GK, my first home club. It just is too much fun playing, to open the course designer. And I really would like to learn to do Lidar courses. That’s on my to do list.
My hobbies are cooking, photo (been too little lately), history and sports. One of few Swedes (but I know some) following baseball, for me especially Chicago White Sox.
On the gaming side, I have never owned a gaming console, always played on the PC. A lot of time have gone to flight sim, a little to racing (not good), a little bit more on Football Manager and Out Of The Park Baseball. Golfing a lot as well.
